PROLOGUE : TRIAL
PROLOGUE - WEEK 0 Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve. Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take. By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Dragon at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand. Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate. ![]() Welcome to your first trial post! Please see here for the OOC summary of events from yesterday's investigation. In addition, please be sure to vote! Please see the voting page on how to vote, as we will have two special things to vote for. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST! If you have any questions, please ask on our Discord server or ping us on plurk. Please direct pings for the NPC to Dana (

a footprint (??)
[ Fane pulls a napkin out of his coat that's stained with ink. It's an imprecise impression of the possible footprint they found at the scene, but he gestures to the mirrors. ]
While in the dining hall, we found Ion passed out but quite alive, as seems to be the case for several of you idiots. Regardless, in the ink spilling from the tapestry, there was an impression left behind. I believe it looks like the ball of someone's foot, but if you have other theories, I suppose I'm obliged to entertain them.

missing knives
It seems like someone took all the carving knives in the kitchen. It can't be that easy to hide five different knives of that size... has anyone seen anything unusual in their dorms?

[Hm.]
The wound on that woman's neck seemed a bit too small for a knife.

Ink/blood
Gi-gan bled ink from her wounds. Now there are a few possible explanation for this, since Jae-ha said that wasn't a natural thing for her. Um, the first one was that that was true for everyone here. I tested it [ unnecessarily ] and that's not accurate. The second possibility is that the "classics" on the tapestry are what caused that change. A sub possibility from that one is that her tapestry bled ink to signify that she would also bleed ink. I'm, um, I am hoping that one isn't accurate.
The last possibility is that we bleed ink after we die, which would mean Gi-gan's wounds were afflicted on her post-mortem, and weren't the cause of her death.
So. Um. Ion-- passed out Ion?-- and miss Evans, would either of you be willing to help us narrow it down to at least the two latter options?

Did anyone try cutting her body to make sure she was "bleeding" ink?

strip search: now with full(????) nudity dlc
Hey, uh— Excuse me! Everyone! If I could have you attention, please?
[kill her.]
We noticed that there wasn't any normal blood in any of the rooms we investigated, even though there were signs of a fight in the tailor. I think we can all agree Gi-gan wouldn't have gone down without a fight. [SO... uh.] Her killer might have some kind of bruising they're covering up with their clothes. If we all cooperate and avoid arguing about this, we can get this done so much more quickly — so don't even start. I'm serious about it. Don't do it. [ANYWAY—] The girls can check the girls, and the dudes can check each other. I don't care. Just do whatever helps you feel comfortable enough to get this over with.

heels 👀
Well, with credit where credit it due to Cardia's suggestion, I have something quite interesting to share! These rather... uncomfortable looking shoes have a heel that matches the wounds.
[ He holds up Sharpay's (surely fashionable) stiletto heel for everyone to see. It's been cleared of whatever might have stuck when he put it into a corpse, since he's at least polite-ish. ]
—Ah, yes, and as promised, you may have your shoe back. [ He's looking at 2B as he says this. Apparently Sharpay can't have hers back yet. ]
no subject
No way! Maybe— maybe she was stabbed with the knife first, and then someone wedged that shoe in there to make it fit?
[ expanding the stab wound... how gross, but it's better than somebody kicking Gi-Gan in the throat? ]

THE STORY SO FAR
All right. Let's organize the information we have. Otherwise, you'll just get confused.
The victim was Gi-gan. She died from two puncture wounds, but she's bleeding purple ink instead of blood. And she's the only one bleeding ink. She was an ex-pirate who wouldn't hesitate to defend herself, so she probably got surprised in some way. If she did defend herself, we know Sanji, Jae-ha, and Reyna have recent injuries on them. And... so does Stephanie.
We found Nico, Jae-ha, Sharpay, Reyna, and one of the Ions unconscious in the mansion along with her body. None of them remember anything, apparently. Jae-ha and Sharpay live together, so they don't have any alibi for where they were. It sounds like Tiger might have moved some of them to where they were. There was a... "break dancing" armor, too, but apparently, nobody was inside of it. So it was some kind of magic enchanting it, probably.
There are five carving knives missing from the kitchen, and Varian admitted to taking one. Rebecca took the dresses. We don't know where the letter opener is. Natsuo had ink on his shoe, but it was black ink that didn't match Gi-gan's blood. He said it came from the tapestry.
As far as the murder weapon... Sharpay's heel matches the wounds on Gi-gan's body, but Tiger also brought a bloody stiletto knife from the armory that could have been used. She said one of us made it available, so if anyone wants to fess up, we're listening.
[ a pause; he folds his arms. ]
I doubt Jae-ha did it, since I think they're related. If you ask me, Sharpay is suspicious.

CAT HERDING: FEAT; TIMELINE DISCUSSIONS
Now that you're all listening, we have not even established when and how the murder happened, let alone when the unconscious people ended up where they did! Jae-Ha told me that he took our murder victim to her room at 7pm. After that, no one knows. We know that Tiger woman moved some of those people during the night, but it might be nice to establish what the hell went on in the first place. To those people we found knocked out, when were the last time you were awake?

So --- there are a couple of things really bothering me about this case, but what I want to know is how several people all ended up unconscious in different places, without being able to remember how they got there.
So.... could this be one of the so-called "gifts" we all received? Or did the killer -- or killers -- just somehow drug all of these people and deposit them at different places?
Also, there's the evidence. Why all the glitter and confetti? Why was the sign for the ballroom stolen? Why is the armor breakdancing? Does it have something to do with the other one being used to house Gi-gan's body? Like, disturbing it activated a curse? Or the gifts?

results of ink-licking
The purple ink is fine? Apart from it being someone's blood now, but what I mean is that they're definitely different substances, distinct in both taste and ability to get high off of it.

[ Ann's discomfort with these proceedings have left her mostly silent. Now, she crosses one ankle over the other and speaks up. ]
We should probably talk about the bright pink glitter. Wasn't that technically obscuring evidence?

Given that he's roomed with Sharpay for long enough - ]
... Miss Sharpay - isn't this reminiscent of your tastes?

voting options
While we're all honing in on a potential killer—anyone want to discuss what those two voting options are? "To Be Continued" and "Happily Ever After."
Dragon there said she couldn't specify which led to which fate, but she did say that one will allow for more freedom as to what'll become of them, while the other follows a written curse.
This kind of seems like a big deal to me?

DECISION ;
The dragon uncovers the rose and picks up the petals in her hands. With a gentle blow of wind, she scatters them onto the ink table where they turn into ink splatters and a message:]
Narrators, you have voted in the majority for Sharpay Evans and decreed her fate To Be Continued. You have done well as she is indeed Guilty for the murder of Captain Gi-gan. Though... It would seem that there is a stray vote for Ion - the ah... passed out version.
You shall see what becomes of her tomorrow. I hope you're all happy with what you've decided.
[A gesture - ]
Miss Evans - the stage is yours.
[Sharpay will have time to speak, but once done, she will find herself surrounded by two suits of armor and escorted away to a night spent in the dungeon.]
