CHAPTER FIVE ; TRIAL
CHAPTER 5 - WEEK 5 Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve. Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take. By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Dragon at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand. Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate. Throughout today's trial, cookies and cakes will be served as your trial snacks, along with hot cocoa...served in sippycups. ![]() Welcome to your trial post! Please see here for the OOC summary of events from yesterday's investigation. In addition, please be sure to vote! Please see the voting page on how to vote, as we will have two special things to vote for. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST! If you have any questions, please ask on our Discord server or ping us on plurk. Please direct pings for the NPC to Dana (

a thing
Alright... Uh, everyone. I wanted to share this now so it won't derail us later? For the past couple of weeks, I've been in contact with a Historian. After I learned about Beast writing to Ion in the last trial, I advised them to try to write to Beauty and the Beast... They've asked me to share the letter they received on their behalf since they can't talk about their role publicly, but they feel like this info should be shared with everyone here. Now, I've worked alongside them to decrypt as much of it as I could, and that's the version I've got with me today.
[ that said, he's taking out said letter and showing it off for all to see. It's a transcript in his own handwriting. He'll leave it out for anyone to peruse at any time! ]
Sooo yeah. Um. That's pretty much it.
no subject
So... this letter is saying that we've been here before.

no subject
...It wasn't your fault, Dazai-san. I was convinced that I'd let a piece of valuable information slip by, as well... it's quite difficult.

more talk about reyna + general murder discussion
[ he crosses his arms, trying to interpret the evidence-- correctly, this time. ]
My blunder was in thinking that the person was gravely injured, but managed to get away, hence the drops of blood. But it seems that it was the opposite. I think Lady Reyna was probably killed inside the practice room, and then moved to the piano. [ he sighs shakily, rubbing his face ] What a damn idiot I was, misinterpreting that.
If anyone else has good information about her or Sousei and Jae-Ha, then we might as well discuss it here and now.

On top of that, after inspecting the body, it seems as if she's missing a ring. No one was able to find something like that, were they?

A SUMMAWY UWU
[Ion idly taps his staff against the ground, looking thoughtful as he tries to make sure he has everything straight.]
Lady Reyna's body was discovered hidden inside of the piano in the music room. It seems she has wounds on her body that suggests there may have been a struggle in the attack against her. A tiger--kigurumi?--appears to have been thrown to the swans, causing it to become torn into pieces. It's possible that whoever murdered Lady Reyna may have worn it to avoid staining their own clothing, but have no particular means of telling who could have worn it. There was a vial discovered with breadcrumbs inside by the lake, as well.
[Um...]
Nobody has any injuries that are unaccounted for, I believe, but it sounds like something may have happened with the puppets that are causing pain to a few people despite their apparent lack of physical damage. Aside from that, I don't believe we've made any particular assumptions about the injuries that the other victims have sustained.

We're not really getting anywhere so I'm just going to go for it! Dazai and Lord Jerkwad over here—
[ He points his sippy cup in their general directions. ]
Frankly, I find it pretty strange that they missed a whole body. A body that belonged to one of their partners no less— combine that with the fact that Reyna wouldn't take a drink from someone unless she trusted them, well you do the math folks! And Dazai? Well between the tears and him suddenly very subtly throwing his good pal Eichi under the bus under the guise of justice well.. just doesn't sit right with me. This is the same guy who defended Sharpay tooth and nail when it was very clearly she was our whodunnit of the week! Anyway! That's all I had to say.
[ he bows ]
Thanks for your time!

STATE OF THE STABS
... The dagger matches the stab wounds on Reyna's chest and Jae-ha's neck. But— Um, Sousei's wound is really fucked up? It's bigger than the dagger itself.
[And Reyna's prints are on the dagger, which is. Bad.]
What the hell are we going to do?

Why is Sousei's wound fucked up, is a good question? To obscure the stab wound or?

DECISION ;
The dragon uncovers the rose and picks up the petals in her hands. With a gentle blow of wind, she scatters them onto the ink table where they turn into ink splatters and a message:]
[She speaks:]
Narrators, you have voted in the majority for Osamu Dazai and decreed his fate To Be Continued. Unfortunately, he is Innocent of any deaths that have come to pass over this week.
Though... a number of you did vote for Lord El-Melloi II, and others for Zelos Wilder and Hikage.
You shall see what becomes of him tomorrow. I hope... you are able to live with your choices.
[A gesture - ]
Osamu Dazai... Is this what you requested?
[Dazai will have time to speak, but once done, he will find himself surrounded by two suits of armor and escorted away to a night spent in the dungeon.]
