CHAPTER FIVE ; TRIAL

The Story Continues...
CHAPTER 5 - WEEK 5
23 Narrators Remain ;
Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve.

Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take.

By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Dragon at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand.

Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate.

Throughout today's trial, cookies and cakes will be served as your trial snacks, along with hot cocoa...served in sippycups.

That's my thought, too. The fact that the room itself wasn't thoroughly investigated after we've been here for several weeks is what doesn't sit right with me.
fonlines: (burns its eternal flames)

[personal profile] fonlines 2018-07-15 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
... Nico, you said last time that- you could tell? Vaguely, when something had happened.

[ ... ]

I don't want to pry if the wound is too raw, but do you know anything, of how a timeline may have formed?
resumed: (upset ♕ leave me alone)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-15 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
[...]

...all three of them died on Thursday evening. Around curfew, sort of, but all three of them were muddled together making it impossible to tell who went first. I'm sorry.
fonlines: (they still turn)

[personal profile] fonlines 2018-07-15 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
There's no need to apologize.

[ similar timing but muddled... could be coincidence, or, possibly more likely here, there are other factors obfuscating it. ]

I believe that you want to find her killer, so of course you'd only do your best. There's nothing to be sorry for, in that case.
resumed: (hesitate ♕ I'm not sure what you mean)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-15 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
[A shrug.] Normally at its full capacity my ability to tell is more accurate. Here, it's like they all started around the same time and their intensities rivaled each other before they all stopped. I wish I knew what all of that meant, but it's something to consider.
fonlines: (i calmly want to keep existing)

[personal profile] fonlines 2018-07-15 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ a wan smile. ] If only we all were at our full capacities, weren't we?

It'd be a simple matter of searching one's memories for their guilt if we were.

[ look, i don't make the rules, abyss is just like this. ]
resumed: (curious ♕ what a dumb point)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-15 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
...you can do that normally? [Wow what the fuck Abyss.]
fonlines: (memory of the future)

[personal profile] fonlines 2018-07-15 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
It is... quite the restricted skill.

[ super special secret powers for Fon Masters only, he means. ]

And quite the unpleasant one at that, for the one receiving it. Regardless... it would have been an option available to us, had we all possessed our own abilities.
resumed: (reconsider ♕ huh.)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-15 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
There are plenty of skills that they took from us that would have changed how this game went. I can understand it, but it doesn't mean I like it very much. [...] That sounds awful though.
fonlines: (shall turn power to calamity)

[personal profile] fonlines 2018-07-15 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ He looks down and to the side, his smile strained. ]

Calling the memories back... is as if they were reliving them again, just as they were when they first occurred. It isn't something done lightly.

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-15 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
...my sister used to experience something similar. I never thought it was something to be taken lightly either.
fonlines: (the name of your soul)

[personal profile] fonlines 2018-07-15 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... after a heavy deliberation: ]

... would it help us at all, do you think, if we were to try to wish for abilities like that back?

[ or is the fact that they're all on- relatively equal ground the only reason they haven't all managed to kill each other yet? ]
resumed: (upset ♕ leave me alone)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-15 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
No. How do you think I ended up this way? [With the vague sense of knowing who's in danger but not being able to help? It was a poor judgement call.]
fonlines: (your soul devotes its name)

[personal profile] fonlines 2018-07-15 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ a h ]

I suppose it was too much to hope.
