CHAPTER FIVE ; TRIAL

The Story Continues...
CHAPTER 5 - WEEK 5
23 Narrators Remain ;
Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve.

Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take.

By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Dragon at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand.

Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate.

Throughout today's trial, cookies and cakes will be served as your trial snacks, along with hot cocoa...served in sippycups.

[Father praised him! He is so pleased!]

Yes! It's good to get a new perspective when you feel stuck!

If I remember correctly, Sousei has a broken neck on him, yes? And Jae-Ha is missing a leg. Has anyone been able to find a different weapon other than the dagger? A blade perhaps?
fragileprophet: (Robot face)

[personal profile] fragileprophet 2018-07-14 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that I recall...but that's a good point! It's unlikely a dagger could have caused all of these injuries.

I... I couldn't get a closer look at Jae-ha's leg. [She would have barfed, for obvious reasons.] But did it look like his leg was torn off, or cut off? It— It looked really gross when Evan and I found him.

...that would explain why it was found somewhere far from the rest of his body. Is it possible someone requested for like...I don't know, a chainsaw?

[personal profile] selfinserting 2018-07-14 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
But... In that case, where did it, um, go? That doesn't seem like something easy to, to hide.

Remember the rulebook? It says people can't kill without talking to the Crafters first. [Because of course at a time like this Nico's going to assume people will follow the rules.] Maybe they have something to do with that. Tiger does keep bringing us extra stuff at random times.

[personal profile] selfinserting 2018-07-14 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
...That's a good point.

[Hm.]

But... He had a stab wound on his neck. That, that alone could have killed him. Why cut off his, his leg, too...?
resumed: (neutral ♕ listening)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-14 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Insult to injury? It was his dragon leg, so I assume it was really important to him.
selfinserting: (before i lead with the worst of me)

[personal profile] selfinserting 2018-07-14 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
You think it was, um, someone who didn't like him...?
resumed: (Default)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-14 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That would certainly narrow down our pool, wouldn't it? Too many people liked Jae-Ha specifically. But someone who didn't like him or someone who wanted to weaken him would go for the obvious first. I think.
selfinserting: (pic#12103426)

[personal profile] selfinserting 2018-07-14 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
...It's easy for anyone to say they were close with him afterwards, though, isn't it?

[...]

If it was just to weaken him, wouldn't they have just, just left his leg there? Or... Is there another reason to move it?
resumed: (distain ♕ no thanks)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-14 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Obscure where he was killed maybe. It's really hard to say exactly what the motivation behind that is, but it's easier to move a leg than a whole body. If you killed someone, would you leave all evidence in the same spot?
asswipe: (013)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-07-14 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if it's relevant, but there was mud on Jae-ha's shoes— [a beat.] Um, shoe, when we found him. I didn't find any evidence of him getting dragged, but maybe someone with more experience with bodies would?
resumed: (Default)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-14 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
...it was raining before this, so yeah, it's a little relevant. It means he was already outside at one point. But then that's even weirder. Why bring him back inside and specifically to the morgue? If someone was strong enough maybe they wouldn't have to drag him.
asswipe: (041)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-07-14 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Like you said, it could have been to obscure where he was killed. Scatter the evidence enough, and we won't know where to start looking.
resumed: (Default)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-07-14 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Look at where we are now with only a few hours left.
asswipe: (010)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-07-14 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe... some kind of regular saw, then? Something that they could have plausibly hidden in a way that we missed it? [hn.] Or one of the Narrators we're looking for has a gift that lets them do that kind of damage, but that's not something we can confirm.
selfinserting: (give them no reason to stare)

[personal profile] selfinserting 2018-07-14 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't it take a, a long time to cut off his leg with a regular saw?
asswipe: (004)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-07-14 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
As I am not in the habit of sawing off people's legs— I don't know?
