The Story Continues... CHAPTER 233 Narrators Remain ; There’s nothing to shake up the feeling of helplessness and betrayal quite like some renovations. Residents in the castle will find a gentle rumble stirring them out of their sleep on Monday morning, and if they choose to find the source of the noise, they’ll notice a newly constructed staircase on the second floor. It stretches up, up, up and will guide the Narrators to a third floor with all types of new installments to the castle. Go ahead, crack open a book, try your hand at some potion mixing. What could possibly go wrong? Just as last week, the morning that the dining hall opens, the tapestries of Ann Takamaki, Soo-won, and Dave Strider will all suddenly catch flame from the bottom, burning up and up until the entire tapestry is gone. Anyone who ventures outside will also find that the scenery has warmed up considerably. Snow no longer dusts the ground, but rather the warm sun and pleasant chirping of birds greet you to the castle grounds. The area has also been expanded, a new jousting grounds available for play and recreation. A set of stables stands next to the grounds, but anyone who ventures inside will find only hear the occasional, phantom whinny of a horse and – find some rather large feathers? Interesting. Finally, partners will find themselves unable to rest peacefully yet another week. While no paranoia creeps over anyone’s shoulders, when night falls and they find themselves sleeping, they’ll instead see dreams – or rather, some memories of their partner. Apparently the Crafters would rather that you all get to know each other sooner, rather than later. Hopefully you don’t see anything you’re not meant to. Welcome to Week 2, everyone! Today we've introduce new castle locations and brought a new round of partner effects, so please review those, including the Outside section on the Locations page. [To be sure, fairytales are informative—and while Sandalphon has read his share of them thus far, he's now moved on to reading other practical material. He sits in the corner of the library, where he peruses what looks like a beginner's cookbook. Flipping past complicated recipes in favor of simpler ones, he occasionally furrows his brow in concentration at the instructions or a sample picture.]

all week, kitchen;

[Sandalphon makes coffee for himself every morning. Currently, he's nursing a cup and will inform anyone who enters the kitchen of the brew.]

Coffee is ready. Help yourself if you'd like.

[Please join him during this merry time of imbibing caffeine, as there is plenty to go around. If not, at least the kitchen smells divine.]

Monday, Kitchen

[She's there earlier than breakfast usually starts and so she'll grab herself a mug of coffee. A thank you is mouthed in his direction.

It's been a long two weeks. A morning coffee is a welcome moment of normalcy.]

[Long, indeed. While the coffee is quite good, Sandalphon puts out a disclaimer.]

It isn't much, but it's a start for the new week.

[disclosures]

[She raises the cup of coffee before blowing on it before it cools.

She shrugs. The end of the week is going to go poorly, it has every other week.

The start of it can go a little better.]

[melancoffeea]

[The recent trial has taken its toll on many people, he thinks.]

You seem tired. Didn't sleep well?

kitchen

[!!! He's been waiting for this. He finds himself a cup.]

Okay!

[Time to experience mud water.]

Is there a special way I should pour it?

[Watch him spill it all over the counter.]

[Sandalphon does not want that, at all, so he rises from his seat]

Here—

[He extends a hand for Ion to deposit the cup in.]

[Clearly excited, Ion eagerly hands his cup over to Sandalphon. He'll follow him all the way over to the coffee so he can watch eagerly, his hands gripped against the counter.]

[He pours the steaming coffee. Just like that, the deed is done, and there are no burns to speak of for that day. Sandalphon holds the filled cup by the rim as he returns it to Ion.]

Start with a sip. It's hot and you might want to add sugar.

[Seeing as Sanji is always in the kitchen, this is probably not the first (or last) time Sanji has heard this offer]

I probably should... slept like crap.

Hm. Given recent events, it doesn't look like you're the only one.

[concasse]

Yeah, trials are pretty shit to everyone.

[Some more than others, obviously, but he's not gonna dwell on that for now]

Even for mortals, five days must not be enough to recover completely from the trial and execution.

[ Natsuo's mostly here to hang out, less interested in the books on the shelves than he is going around and peering at whatever everybody else is reading. It's a little when he's trying to read things upside down, but the one Sandalphon's got in his hands has pictures, and Natsuo's face brightens up immediately. ]

Are you learning how to cook!? Let me help! I'll taste test!

[melancoffeea]

[ He looks up, although he really didn't need to—anyone can recognize Natsuo's booming voice right away. ]

Ah. Free at last, I see.

Are you sure that offering yourself is wise? You don't know if I'm capable of cooking well.

[ His voice is like a police siren you hear from miles away, instilling fear into the hearts of everybody around him. ]

I'm free~ And I'm hungry! If food is made specifically for me, that'll make me happy! I'll eat all of it! I won't let it go to waste, no matter how disgusting!

[AH, COFFEE... Such a majestic drink. He's smelled it a hell of a lot by now based on the sheer number of coffee drinkers in this castle, but hasn't actually had a cup of his own yet.

He pauses at the offer, but hey, now's as good a time as any to start becoming a caffeine addict??]

I've never had it before. Do you drink it just like this?

[The majestic smell masks a foul taste. Souji should save himself.]

You can. You're free to add some sugar as well.

[Souji is going to dive headfirst into hell.]

Wait, I'm not offending you if I don't take it black, am I? Oh well.

Did you know that the coffee industry is worth over twenty billion dollars where I come from, old sport? You could be a part of that. I know good coffee, and you'd make such a profit on this that it wouldn't even be funny.

[He neither cares to monetize his hobby nor knows what dollars are.]

Oh? You think that it would be possible for me to go to your world?

Why not? If they can transport use from all sorts of different places, they can do it the opposite way.
