The Story Continues... PROLOGUE - WEEK 037 Narrators Remain ; Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve. Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take. By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Dragon at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand. Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate. It seems like someone took all the carving knives in the kitchen. It can't be that easy to hide five different knives of that size... has anyone seen anything unusual in their dorms?

That's interesting. I myself haven't seen them, but...

The wound on that woman's neck seemed a bit too small for a knife.

I'm really not sure what's more concerning... if the knives were used for the murder, or if they weren't, and someone stole them for a totally unrelated reason.

Could've been stolen by multiple people wanting to arm themselves. The shit in the armory isn't all that usable.

Oh, um, I have one of those.

When did you take it?

Um. Wednesday? Maybe? I wanted to see if I could check the properties of some of the materials in the castle, and we are. Really short on tools to use that don't come from the kitchen.

[hairbrain]

You took a knife? Why?

[ varian please. ]

To try and see if I could scrape off materials from around the castle to check their properties. It's not the best tool, but you know what they say about beggars and choosers.

[ for science. ]

Nothing. But there's always the chance that different people took them? It'll be easier to hide one knife.

I suppose that's true. But it would be pretty strange if several different people decided to steal only those knives purely by coincidence.

They might be the sharpest things in the kitchen. If you're stuck in a murder castle and someone might attack you, would you go for that or a fork?

[concasse]

And all you bastards better put that shit back later...!

[ sympathetically pats his arm. ]

[MONIKA NO ONE UNDERSTANDS.

There will be multiple murders if y'all assholes don't leave his kitchen in order]

[ brandishes the frying pan she stole. it's not a knife, buuuut. ]

I haven't seen anything like that in my dorm, but the knives aren't the only thing that went missing. Someone took a letter opener from the tailor, and — some clothes? For whatever reason.

A letter opener?

[ That gets Kyouka's attention. ]

It was a puncture. A letter opener fits more than a knife.

Taking clothes doesn't sound strange to me at all. I have a few dresses myself, actually. It's not like we were allowed to bring luggage, after all!

. . . my, we really are quite the group of thieves, aren't we?

I took clothes. I took five dresses from the tailor on Tuesday.

I don't want to be stuck in my wedding dress of pajamas for however long this is going to go on. [She's wearing one of them right now.]

Not in my dorm. Personally, I doubt Evan took anything to hide in our dorm, and I didn't either.

[He's too scared of upsetting Dazai to even ask to take the bed sometimes, there is no way he's trying to hide a knife in there.]

. . . it's a bit disconcerting to know that there are people here running around with concealed knives. I haven't seen any, but I would like to know who has them. For inventory purposes.

[keep track of knives, keep track of potential killers]

I doubt most people are gonna confess. Even if done to protect themselves, giving the knife's position away doesn't benefit them.
