The End EPILOGUE - WEEK 740 Narrators End ; Wake up, Narrators. You've done well this past weekend. As you awaken on this beautiful morning, the doors to the castle are wide open and a festive mood fills the air. Music can be heard from the garden and the ballroom, the dining room's overflowing with tasty treats and beverages, and everything is awash in a soft glow of purples, reds, and golds. Yet as you exit from your dormitories for the last time, several things will be noticeable to you... Lining the hallways, several new ornate mirrors flank either wall. Each mirror is engraved with the name of a Narrator and allows each participant of this war to view their world back home. They will be able to see who they wish to see and the current state of affairs in their world. They will also, thanks to their adventures in the Other Space, be able to view the future of their home worlds and what's at stake for them. No matter where they are in the castle, each Narrator will also find themselves presented with a leatherbound book, a jar of ink and a fresh quill. As they open the book they will see a write-up of their story up until now with several blank pages at the end of the book. As promised, the ink won by the Dragon's ending is enough to allow Narrators to write their own happy endings... even those that directly clash with what they've been able to witness for themselves in the mirrors. Go ahead, write yourself into the universe of another Narrator. The story is yours to tell. Alternatively - if you seek to write a new story for yourself entirely, additional pages will be provided for you to draft up that fresh start. Meanwhile, the longer you linger around the castle it will become clear that it's much noisier than it should be for only forty people. Venturing further downstairs you will find several guests waiting for you. Some of these may be people you know from your own worlds, brought here to take you home thanks to the extra magic obtained from the Other Space. Others are past participants from previous rounds of this war, battle stories and triumphs to share. Apparently they'd received an invitation to a celebration to mark the end of it all. Even those who had died from previous rounds and not revived are present. While it had been thought that they'd been lost in the Other Side when there was not enough ink to revive them - it appears that they'd been given new life via your efforts. The clock in the foyer seems to have stopped. Take all the time you need to say your goodbyes... you are in charge of your own destiny from here on out. Welcome to your farewell log, everyone! A couple of fun notes for your perusal. Due to the efforts of characters yesterday in the mini-adventures, characters have unlocked the ability to preview their futures and decide their own destinies. Additionally, they have unlocked the ability for castmates to visit them in the castle, along with characters who have participated in previous rounds of the war! [The truth sounds unbelievable, but when it comes down to it - it's the truth. Yona's sure that even if it's hard for someone to fathom, they'd ultimately end up believing it if it came from someone they cared about.

And she's sure that his aunt cares about him.]

I don't know. I think she might, but she might also think it's stress from everything happening at home. I know she'd understand either way but...[A shrug.] I don't want to worry her anymore either.

[A beat.] What are you going to tell your dad?

[Yona nods a little. Not wanting to worry Cass - she can understand that, at least. But, still...]

Won't it be hard not to tell her about it, though...?

[Especially if she's asking what's wrong...

And, because Yona is really bad at taking her own advice... she fidgets a little and looks down at her feet.]

Father is busy a lot, so if I'm careful, I don't think he'll notice that anything is wrong. [She can get away with not seeing her father consistently - he's busy with the kingdom, she's... prone to just chasing her own idle happiness. If he doesn't notice that something's changed about her, that's not so strange, is it?] Besides, I can't tell him. He already won't let me leave the palace because he's worried something might happen to me. If he hears about this, I might never get to leave my room.

[A shrug.] I didn't tell her about becoming a superhero to apprehend my brother's killer, so I think I could get away with not telling her about this castle if I wanted. She's...my aunt tries pretty hard and I feel bad keeping secrets, but some are better left unsaid.

Anyway, you can't tell me that even if he grounded you for life you'd find a way to sneak out. That's who you are. You're not so great at being told no. [It's admirable.] But if it's bothering you I think...I don't know. He'd probably listen.

[cutefaced]

[Grounded, right. That's the word for it. Watch her dad pick up on the fact that something's wrong, not because she's acting funny, but because she starts talking like a modern teenager...]

...if we really don't want to bother them, though... we could, um... [she hesitates] ...I overheard some people talking about writing the ability to send and receive letters to and from the people who were here into their stories. We could do that, too.

[It won't be the same as seeing each other every day, but...]

[Just a Look. They're both hypocrites, it's fine.]

...you mean like interdimensional penpals? [He's heard about that, too.] It's a thought. I'd write to you probably every day if I had the chance.

[cutefaced]

I don't know what that word means, but... yes?

[If it makes sense to him it probably makes sense, period.]

I'd write to you every day, too! So... let's do that, okay? I don't want to go back home and never hear from you or see you ever again.

Is writing the same thing as seeing each other though? [It's a nice thought, but.] It'll be weird if we forget what each other sounds or looks like, won't it?

[...he won't forget her. He's worried about the opposite still.]

[Yona shakes her head.]

...it's not the same at all. [She knows they both have to go back, and she's certain she won't forget him, but... even just remembering isn't the same. She wants to be able to see him, and talk to him, and...

Her eyes light up.]

Oh! I just had an idea! Do you remember, in the fairy tale our titles are from, the Beast gave Beauty a mirror so she could look into it and see him in the castle? And a ring so she could twist it and come back to him in an instant?

[...look they were banished for a year and he left her alone for eight months, she had a lot of time to read fairy tales]

[He's familiar enough with the animated film and he suddenly nods, immediately picking up on her idea.]

You think if we write it into our stories they'll give us magic mirrors? We could write them so that they work like video chatting! You can see what I'm doing and vice versa but we can talk to each other over the mirrors like we're face to face.

[...] I wouldn't exactly say no to a ring either.

That's what the ink is for, isn't it? Writing things into our stories that weren't a part of them before. ...I want to make sure that no matter how my story turns out you're always a part of it.

[she says, without batting so much as an eyelash at how sappy that sounds]

I think the mirror and the ring can help us do that, so... let's do that. We can make them match!

[zerotohiro]

[There's a strangled, surprised noise??? And he blushes suddenly. GODDAMNIT YONA.]

R-right. Matching rings! Great idea! [LETS. FOCUS ON THAT.] What do you think they should look like? It has to be something we can't lose when we get back, too.

[...is... is he okay. There's a moment where it looks like Yona is going to ask if he's got a fever or something, but he's moving on so quickly that she resolves to ask him about it later on when he least expects it and will probably just answer out of surprise instead of changing the subject.

(She's the worst.)]

I'm used to wearing jewelry, so I definitely won't lose mine. [...] But you work with your hands a lot, don't you? So it has to be something simple that won't get in the way.

Yeah. Maybe something I can put on a chain or something? I probably won't lose my head when I get back. [Shrug.] I could also design a case for it or something.

That sounds perfect! [she's totally on board with dates with hiro, i guess. even if they're just through a mirror.] You have to show me your inventions, too. I want to hear all about them.

Are you sure about that? There's a lot of inventions, dude. Like a lot a lot. It'd take forever to show you everything.

Exactly.

[it means they'll never run out of things to talk about and she'll always have an excuse to call him!]
