The End EPILOGUE - WEEK 740 Narrators End ; Wake up, Narrators. You've done well this past weekend. As you awaken on this beautiful morning, the doors to the castle are wide open and a festive mood fills the air. Music can be heard from the garden and the ballroom, the dining room's overflowing with tasty treats and beverages, and everything is awash in a soft glow of purples, reds, and golds. Yet as you exit from your dormitories for the last time, several things will be noticeable to you... Lining the hallways, several new ornate mirrors flank either wall. Each mirror is engraved with the name of a Narrator and allows each participant of this war to view their world back home. They will be able to see who they wish to see and the current state of affairs in their world. They will also, thanks to their adventures in the Other Space, be able to view the future of their home worlds and what's at stake for them. No matter where they are in the castle, each Narrator will also find themselves presented with a leatherbound book, a jar of ink and a fresh quill. As they open the book they will see a write-up of their story up until now with several blank pages at the end of the book. As promised, the ink won by the Dragon's ending is enough to allow Narrators to write their own happy endings... even those that directly clash with what they've been able to witness for themselves in the mirrors. Go ahead, write yourself into the universe of another Narrator. The story is yours to tell. Alternatively - if you seek to write a new story for yourself entirely, additional pages will be provided for you to draft up that fresh start. Meanwhile, the longer you linger around the castle it will become clear that it's much noisier than it should be for only forty people. Venturing further downstairs you will find several guests waiting for you. Some of these may be people you know from your own worlds, brought here to take you home thanks to the extra magic obtained from the Other Space. Others are past participants from previous rounds of this war, battle stories and triumphs to share. Apparently they'd received an invitation to a celebration to mark the end of it all. Even those who had died from previous rounds and not revived are present. While it had been thought that they'd been lost in the Other Side when there was not enough ink to revive them - it appears that they'd been given new life via your efforts. The clock in the foyer seems to have stopped. Take all the time you need to say your goodbyes... you are in charge of your own destiny from here on out. Welcome to your farewell log, everyone! A couple of fun notes for your perusal. Due to the efforts of characters yesterday in the mini-adventures, characters have unlocked the ability to preview their futures and decide their own destinies. Additionally, they have unlocked the ability for castmates to visit them in the castle, along with characters who have participated in previous rounds of the war! Well. Funny thing, that. Reyna and Zelos have talked about their families before, so when she sees a redhead running around looking for her brother, she has her suspicions - and they're confirmed as soon as she hears his name.]

--you're Seles?

[She's so surprised by that and it's clear all over her face. That rich girl composure she was trying to uphold is splitting, and that's distressing... but no!! She's calm and composed!!]

Y-yes, that's right! My name is Seles Wilder, and I've come to... collect the Chosen.

[uh huh]

[toughchoices]

You've come to collect your brother.

[It's a gentle correction. But - this is... probably fine? It's probably fine.]

My name is Reyna. I'm not sure exactly where Zelos is, but let's go look for him together.

[quarterelf]

My relationship with the Chosen hardly matters.

[She's getting all huffy, it's almost like she's tsun or something wow.]

He's slacking on his duties, so I intend to bring him back. That's all. If you'll cooperate with me on that, then... I'd appreciate it.

[toughchoices]

[reyna, internally: wow, both of these siblings are bad at acknowledging how they feel

reyna, externally: this is fine.]

He's made some friends here - so let's check with them. If you see a tall blond man with... interesting eyebrows, Zelos probably isn't too far away.

[quarterelf]

Really? Hmph... I thought for sure he'd be surrounding himself with women.

[HMPH she says... but alright, if some weirdo is the key to finding her brother, she'll look out for him, too! She follows along wherever Reyna is heading because it seems like she knows! Actually.]

Were you friends with him, as well?

[toughchoices]

[reyna thinks back to zelos declaring the castle a sausage fest at the beginning of all this and resolves never to tell seles about that]

We're friends.

[she says this with a nod and ... well, honestly, she's not sure exactly where to check, but they're heading for the kitchen. mainly because sanji is probably victory cooking and zelos is probably mooching.]

...he told me a little about you, you know.

[quarterelf]

H-he did?

[The reaction is immediate, genuine, her eyes large and curious, hopeful— and then she shakes her head to get herself out of it.]

I mean, he couldn't have said much. He never visits, he's always fooling around... the reputation that he's made for himself is horrible, and I'm left alone to deal with it.

[...] What did he say?

[toughchoices]

[She doesn't look at all surprised to hear about that. It lines up pretty well with what she's learned about Zelos in their time here.]

He cares about you a great deal - he's just terrible at showing it. [to put it mildly.] We didn't get into too many specifics, but... he talked about how the two of you got along well when you were younger.

Don't tell him you heard this from me, but I get the feeling he'd like for the two of you to get along like that again.

[quarterelf]

[She looks genuinely surprised at that, almost hopeful, but then it closes off and she's turning up her nose, clutching at her purse too tightly.]

Y-you must have misunderstood! My big brother never even visits me. He spends all of his time slacking on his duties and flirting with women. The tales reach me even if he never does. He could care less about what happens to me.

[Hoo boy.

Reyna never expected to be able to fix what was wrong between these two siblings - in fact, she hadn't expected to need to. Zelos had mentioned the two of them patching things up in his memory. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's the same way for Seles; Nico remembers things that she herself doesn't.

Idly, she wonders if Seles is going to use that purse of hers to give Zelos a good smack or two.]

Seles, listen. I won't tell you that your brother doesn't need to get his priorities straightened out, because he does. [he does...] But there is no older sibling out there who doesn't care what happens to their younger sibling. He may be terrible at his job and an awful flirt besides, but he cares about you. I'd stake my life on that.
