The End EPILOGUE - WEEK 740 Narrators End ; Wake up, Narrators. You've done well this past weekend. As you awaken on this beautiful morning, the doors to the castle are wide open and a festive mood fills the air. Music can be heard from the garden and the ballroom, the dining room's overflowing with tasty treats and beverages, and everything is awash in a soft glow of purples, reds, and golds. Yet as you exit from your dormitories for the last time, several things will be noticeable to you... Lining the hallways, several new ornate mirrors flank either wall. Each mirror is engraved with the name of a Narrator and allows each participant of this war to view their world back home. They will be able to see who they wish to see and the current state of affairs in their world. They will also, thanks to their adventures in the Other Space, be able to view the future of their home worlds and what's at stake for them. No matter where they are in the castle, each Narrator will also find themselves presented with a leatherbound book, a jar of ink and a fresh quill. As they open the book they will see a write-up of their story up until now with several blank pages at the end of the book. As promised, the ink won by the Dragon's ending is enough to allow Narrators to write their own happy endings... even those that directly clash with what they've been able to witness for themselves in the mirrors. Go ahead, write yourself into the universe of another Narrator. The story is yours to tell. Alternatively - if you seek to write a new story for yourself entirely, additional pages will be provided for you to draft up that fresh start. Meanwhile, the longer you linger around the castle it will become clear that it's much noisier than it should be for only forty people. Venturing further downstairs you will find several guests waiting for you. Some of these may be people you know from your own worlds, brought here to take you home thanks to the extra magic obtained from the Other Space. Others are past participants from previous rounds of this war, battle stories and triumphs to share. Apparently they'd received an invitation to a celebration to mark the end of it all. Even those who had died from previous rounds and not revived are present. While it had been thought that they'd been lost in the Other Side when there was not enough ink to revive them - it appears that they'd been given new life via your efforts. The clock in the foyer seems to have stopped. Take all the time you need to say your goodbyes... you are in charge of your own destiny from here on out. Welcome to your farewell log, everyone! A couple of fun notes for your perusal. Due to the efforts of characters yesterday in the mini-adventures, characters have unlocked the ability to preview their futures and decide their own destinies. Additionally, they have unlocked the ability for castmates to visit them in the castle, along with characters who have participated in previous rounds of the war! [ rapunzel spends quite some time looking at her own future with a frown. mostly, uh, varian using her to get the flower, kidnapping her mom, and trying to kill her. big yikes. ]

[ but once she sees you, she looks up and smiles faintly. ]

Soooo. Big plans for the, um, happy ending?

[ pascal gives you a solemn nod. good luck out there from a chameleon?? ]

Well, I've got a lot to do. [ glances over in varian's direction! ] And a loooot to work through.

[ a beat. ]

Don't tell me you're going back to imprisonment, Sandy.

[melancoffeea]

[ varian. whatever their problem is, she has her work cut out for her. ]

Where else would I be going?

[hairbrain]

Oh, I don't know... anywhere else?

[ come on sandy!!! ]

[ nah. ]

Fleeing the cage once was enough. This will be my first act of repentance. Are you suggesting that I forgo responsibility for my actions?

[hairbrain]

If it means getting locked up for thousands of years....

[ don't put her in a box, sandy!!! ]

Isn't there some other way?

[ he looks down at his feet. ]

It won't be the same place that I was held before. I didn't get to see it for myself, but . . . it felt warm.

[ almost comfortingly so. odd. ]

[Pascal and Saizo can just exchange knowing looks over here while Souji smiles right back at Rapunzel. Finally, the most murderous animal sidekicks in the castle... reunite.]

Not many plans at all, actually.

[ it's been too long for the murderpals who never did get to murder...... they're seeing each other off stoicly. ]

Just going to go where the wind takes you? That's my kinda style!

[ but she grows a little more serious. ]

Well, I kinda have a big destiny waiting for me? Gotta make everything right.

[sanguinairy]

[They'll return to their respective canons and do extra murdering to make up for all the murder they didn't get a chance to do here.]

It sounds like something you would approve of.

[WILD AND FREE SOULS. But at the mention of a big destiny, Souji just smiles knowingly and nods.]

You've still got quite a lot of work to do then, hm?

[hairbrain]

[ when will the murder animal bros be reunited.... ]

Oh, I am all about the free spirit! And adventuring. Is that what you're up to?

[ but, uh, yeah. ] Yeah, gotta find out the mystery of my hair --- and the black rocks, save the kingdom, all that.

[sanguinairy]

[SOMEDAY, ON THE MURDEROUS SIDEKICK ASTRAL PLANE...]

Mm... Something like it, I suppose? [souji don't compare war to adventuring.]

Ah, but you've got a full plate, then. I hope that you can finish everything with the time to spare for a little rest, if you need one.

[90% of this castle just Keeps Going though.]

[hairbrain]

[ the starcrossed murder partners will be reunited. ]

Sounds exciting! Maybe I can come visit once... everything's taken care of.

[ she smiles, then.... grabs him (gently) for a hug. ]

About the dragons? [ she didn't get everything from him but she can hazard a couple of guesses. ]

Well, a lot of things I need to make right, that's for sure. A mystery to solve, too.

...No big plans. I'm just excited for things to be, um, normal. You know...?

[He gives her a smile, though.]

Oh, you don't have to tell me! This has been, well, a lot.

[ she smiles for him. ]

I've got a lot on my plate I need to take care of, but I'm ready.

[alchemenace]

[ varian looks at rapunzel's future with a bored expression, considering it's... his past. ha ha. timelines. ]

I don't know. If I write myself out of the kingdom jail, are you just going to put me straight back in? Because that might change my plans a little.

[ does she deserve this attack? ha ha probably not. does he care? no, never ]

[ timelines indeed!!!! ]

Varian.

[ they were just bonding over their mutual salt for other people,,,, don't be like that. but anyway, she doesn't let herself get mad. ]

You know, if I could rewrite the past, I could. [ a beat. ] But I was thinking.... what if we make a new future together? Your dad's free now, but I still need to figure out the secret of the black rocks before they completely destroy Corona. And I think, well-- I know I can't do it without you.

[ and fred can't say no if it's for the wellfare of corona. she's sure she can negotiate a royal pardon. ]

[ varian obviously wasn't expecting that, and he's staring at rapunzel wide-eyed for a long time before he looks off to the side ]

You know, Stephie invited me to her world. She said I could just, just take my dad and go with her. [ he looks back at rapunzel with a frown ] I wanted to say yes. I still do. Outside of my dad, let's be honest, there's nothing in Corona for me.

[ his face turns hesitant ]

... But I don't like leaving things unfinished. I didn't solve or fix anything. Those rocks might be connected to you, but I've kind of got a score to settle with them by now. [ he grimaces ] So, there are worse things I could do then work with you on that, I guess.

[ tsun ]

[hairbrain]

[ she opens her mouth to argue with that first bit --- but she can't actually argue with him, as much as she wants to. she's seen firsthand. does he even have any friends outside of her, cassandra, and eugene (debatable,, ). ]

[ still, she breathes a sigh of relief and smiles. ]

You and me both. .. On the score, I mean. But I'm happy --- that we can be in this together again.

[ a beat, she starts to fiddle with her hair and looks away again, the smile disappearing. ]

I can't change what's already happened -- or what my dad did, to protect me and mom. But I can make things right now. For you, and for all of Corona. No promises --- [ since she knows that triggers him :/ :/ just kidding. ] Just. Action, from now on.

[alchemenace]

[ end that one at "does he even have any friends", please. ]

[ which is to say, varian looks at rapunzel warily as she speaks, a bit like he's swallowed something bitter ]

... Right. No offense, but I'll believe that when I see it. [ and then he sighs and relents: ] First hand. Wherever those rocks go, we'll see it through together. And I won't try to take vengeance on your kingdom.

[ probably. ]

[hairbrain]

[ varian voice: what's a friend, can i kill it. ]

[ anyway, it's more than she expected. he may look like he's swallowed something bitter, but she just looks -- relieved. she half expected him to say no. ]

Well--- good. For, um, both parts. [ it'll be real awkward if he tries to take vengeance after she probably has to fight fred a lot to get varian in the party. ] I'll be counting on you to watch me. And, you know, everything else alchemy-based.

[ ion nods formally back to pascal, because you know what, sir pascal is on his okay list. ]

Hm, I'm not so sure about big, really... I don't think I'm going back, after all.

[ but he does seem glad to see rapunzel, his expression- well. it's always a gentle smile, but at least, this time, it seems very faintly warm. ]
