CHAPTER SEVEN ; TRIAL
CHAPTER 7 - WEEK 7 Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve. Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take. By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Dragon at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand. Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate. The garden is strangely silent and there are no snacks today...it seems as though you'll be left to your own devices. ![]() Welcome to your trial post! Yasu, Magnus, Reyna, Nico
Aaaand as soon as they arrive, Yasusada's going to take a minute to absorb their surroundings, then turn back to the group with a frown.]
What's a pirate?
[HE'S NOT THE SHINSENGUMI SWORD THAT DROWNED OKAY DON'T LOOK AT HIM]
no subject
but at least they don't have to go into the water. ]
-- What do you mean, "what's a pirate"? It's... a thief. On a boat. That steals from other boats.
no subject
Sanji's a pirate! [This doesn't help.] But yeah, like Magnus said, they're people who have boats and they pillage villages and steal their goods and conquer the land. [He glances out toward the water.] I guess maybe this means now we're pirates.
no subject
They also kidnap people from their homes and throw them belowdecks.
[bitter? reyna? never.]
no subject
[Did Sanji tell him this? Quite possibly, but Yasusada never claimed to be smart, okay. Don't expect much from the sword that stood around flushing a toilet for hours.
He blinks, looking at Reyna with wide, concerned eyes.]
Eh-- Sanji-kun kidnapped someone? [He's getting distracted]
no subject
reyna... why is that so specific. ]
No. Well, maybe? Who knows, but that's what pirates do. They also say arrgh and avast ye mateys, sometimes they wear a lot of eyeliner.
no subject
no subject
[Very nice.]
Let's go find the captain.
no subject
[IS A PIRATE TOO??? he wants to ask, but then he remembers Gi-gan, and. Yes. They should probably focus on their tasks.]
--right. We'll have to give them the fake names to get to them, won't we? [And maybe they can split up to go find the cargo hold on the way...? But he doesn't propose that just yet, wanting to get a better look at the ship before making any plans.]
no subject
but okay. focus. ]
Yeah. Should we decide our names now, so we know who... we are? Or are we just winging it when we get to the captain?
no subject
We should figure them out before we get there. Otherwise they might know we're lying and we can't hesitate. Luckily they don't have to be too extreme.
no subject
[it's a common roman name let me live]
no subject
...
...he doesn't know any Western names off of the top of his head]
Uh-- Kiyomitsu? [HE JUST SORT OF looks at all of them uncertainly... look it's the first thing that came to mind] If you have a better idea that I can pronounce, I'll use that.
no subject
[ he's. used it before so it's easy.
glances at yasu. ] What about Will Turner?
[ someone just shove him into the ocean. ]
no subject
[And with that...he begins to walk.]
no subject
Onward they go! ...it's not difficult to pick out the captain; he's dressed in flashier clothes than the rest of his crew. Reyna nods to him discreetly.]
There. Shall we?
no subject
Yasusada absolutely cannot pronounce "Will" to save his life, but he might be able to manage "Turner", so despite making internal distressed pompom noises, he follows without protest.
He just won't. Talk. To the pirates. That's his greatest contribution here tbh.]
Lead the way. [He says softly--mainly to Reyna, since she seems to know the most about this, but Nico and Magnus are free to step up as well.]
no subject
he should absolutely let reyna be the one that does the talking, but. no. he's going to call out on their behalf, to the captain. ]
Ho, there, sir! Might we speak with you?
no subject
The captain's looking at them skeptically but Nico's chiming in.] We have a slightly odd request regarding your ship.
no subject
reyna, at least, has a decent pokerface, so she doesn't bat an eyelash at magnus's dialogue choices.
The pirate captain sizes the four of them up.]
Whaddya want?
[Well. Here goes nothing.]
My name is Julia; my companions are Will, Edward, and Jimmy. We're looking to book passage on your ship.
[The captain squints at them and waits to see what else the others have to say.]
no subject
nods firmly.
And also stands just behind Reyna, because she is quite obviously the most competent one here.]
no subject
he... also just nods.
ho was all he had. ]
no subject
We seek something far off and our own ship has been damaged. [He's also reaching into his pocket though, pulling out a wish coin.] We have an offer to trade as well. This coin is beyond valuable.
no subject
...
Seems legit. He pockets the coin.]
Welcome aboard, but no funny business. Women are bad luck on ships. [So he doesn't look too happy about having Reyna here, but hey, money. It's fine.] Don't go riling up my crew, now.
[He strides away, leaving them with clear access to the ship.
Reyna kind of looks like she wants to murder him. She'll show him bad luck!]
no subject
At least Yasusada can sense danger, and he gently touches Reyna's arm, offering her a small smile in an attempt to calm her down. Don't murder the captain immediately...]
