The Story Continues... CHAPTER 622 Narrators Remain ; Feels a bit… gloomy, doesn’t it? There are no rumbles to wake Narrators this week. Rather, they are left to rise as they please. The castle has not expanded, there are no new changes, rather they are left exactly with everything that they have been given – like there are no new distractions for them to pull their attention away from their own mistakes of days gone by. As they enter the dining hall, the fire that eats away at Abe no Sousei, Jae-ha, Osamu Dazai, and Reyna Ramírez-Arellano's tapestries must serve as an unfortunate reminder. How unpleasant. At the very least, the rain has stopped. So that’s one thing to look forward to. Yet it doesn’t entirely feel as though they’re… alone. Out of the corner of their eye, they might see the faint glow of a candle in the distance, or a floating fire. Should they try to follow the mirage, they’ll likely be led to another room of the castle without a single disturbance, a dead end. Except – the next time they look in the mirror, they’ll find the face of one of the dead Narrators staring back at them. Blink and then they’re gone. Partners might find this week’s effect to be a bit… inconvenient. At random points in the week, they’ll suddenly feel compelled to be honest with each other. Secrets can still remain, but communication is key in a situation like this, wouldn’t you say? Try a bit of truth – see where it gets you. Hopefully nowhere unfortunate. Welcome to Week 6, everyone! More or less, yes. It's not what I'd usually offer, but...

[The gesture seemed like the important part. Nico will probably also notice that there are a few cases with some extra trinkets too; Yasusada and Hijikata have folded cranes made from what appear to be recipe book pages. Sousei and Jae-ha have tiny paper pinwheels, without the stem.]

I just think it's too sad, leaving them in here like this without any sort of offering at all.

[It makes sense. People leave different offerings for the dead and people have different ways of handling the dead. Nico's used to specific burial rites. These aren't it, but, well, it's the best he's going to get. The cranes render a smile at least because there's effort, and the pinwheels...] You've been busy then.

...I think you're right though. Do you think they can see it from wherever they are?

I like to keep busy, so... [He's killing two birds with one stone! As for the question:] I hope they can. I still don't entirely understand how things work over there, but I know that Yasusada saw us leaving Tiger's room and even noticed my hand.

Which means he yelled a lot I'm guessing. [Yasusada's not exactly shy about how protective he is of Souji.] I got a letter from him the other day. He seems to be doing well.

He was very worried, yes.

[Yasusada has ZERO CHILL and Souji has to deal with the brunt of it, he's tired... but also endeared. A CURSE. His expression seems to brighten a little at the mention of the letter, though.]

He was able to get through to you, then? I'm glad... It seems he's just as energetic as ever.

Parts of the letter were blotted out but I think that happens for everyone who gets letters from them. I'm pretty sure he was trying to tell me that he wrote to you first. [Which. Is endearing. Gods help Souji.]

[That sounds about right. He's cursed, honestly... In any case, understanding seems to light his expression and he sits up a little bit straighter.]

Ah, you must have been who he was referring to... He was telling me he could only write to me because of someone else, but the name had been smudged. Thank you for that.

[Belatedly, even though Yams has probably already said his thanks himself.]

[He doesn't know if that's true or not, so he just settles for a shrug.]

Sure. I have no idea how communication comes out from that side, but if it's anything like here I guess anyone can read what anyone else receives if it's shared.
