The Story Continues... CHAPTER 233 Narrators Remain ; There’s nothing to shake up the feeling of helplessness and betrayal quite like some renovations. Residents in the castle will find a gentle rumble stirring them out of their sleep on Monday morning, and if they choose to find the source of the noise, they’ll notice a newly constructed staircase on the second floor. It stretches up, up, up and will guide the Narrators to a third floor with all types of new installments to the castle. Go ahead, crack open a book, try your hand at some potion mixing. What could possibly go wrong? Just as last week, the morning that the dining hall opens, the tapestries of Ann Takamaki, Soo-won, and Dave Strider will all suddenly catch flame from the bottom, burning up and up until the entire tapestry is gone. Anyone who ventures outside will also find that the scenery has warmed up considerably. Snow no longer dusts the ground, but rather the warm sun and pleasant chirping of birds greet you to the castle grounds. The area has also been expanded, a new jousting grounds available for play and recreation. A set of stables stands next to the grounds, but anyone who ventures inside will find only hear the occasional, phantom whinny of a horse and – find some rather large feathers? Interesting. Finally, partners will find themselves unable to rest peacefully yet another week. While no paranoia creeps over anyone’s shoulders, when night falls and they find themselves sleeping, they’ll instead see dreams – or rather, some memories of their partner. Apparently the Crafters would rather that you all get to know each other sooner, rather than later. Hopefully you don’t see anything you’re not meant to. Welcome to Week 2, everyone! Today we've introduce new castle locations and brought a new round of partner effects, so please review those, including the Outside section on the Locations page. Really! It's 'cause you look happy doing it!

[ Like he's enjoying himself, and that's always good to see. That sort of dexterity isn't something Natsuo's blessed with, but he can point out the flowers he wants added to his crown— large ones with torn petals, off-colored ones, some that are a little wrinkly and wilted but adds a little texture. It's a base of red, but everything else he chooses is frankly just a mess. A colorful, fun looking mess. How he likes it. ]

[Mess or not, Ion puts them all together the way Natsuo wants it, and when it's done, he only seems happier.]

May I?

[He lifts it toward Natsuo's head. He already sort of assumed it was fine with the pre-made crown he was playing with before, but! Polite!]

[ Natsuo shifts out of his crouch and settles down on one knee, head bowed and smiling down at the ground. ]

It feels a little like I'm being knighted- I can officially be everybody's protector now.

Oh--that's such a big responsibility! I hope you won't strain yourself.

[He doesn't want to discourage Natsuo from following his protector dreams, but...as someone who has a bodyguard at home...he can't help but be a little worried. Still, it doesn't change his smile as he places the crown on Natsuo's head.]

I think this suits you perfectly!

[ He looks super pleased at that assessment, hopping onto his feet the moment the crown's on his head and- there's no way he can see it, so he has to trust Ion's judgement that it looks downright awesome. ]

I'm glad! I'll keep this forever and it'll be the first thing I protect! I won't let anything happen to it!

[ And then it wilts in, what? two days? Just in time. ]

Ah!

[Ion stands, as well, but more gradually, since he doesn't have the boundless energy that Natsuo does.]

Okay! If you're protecting that--I should protect something, too!

I have something you can protect! Here, take it-

[ He holds his hand out, palm face up. ]

[fragileprophet]

[Ion reaches out with a slight measure of confusion for Natsuo's hand. what are you planning, sir knight?]

[randori]

[ He grabs Ion's hand, holds it in his so he can't escape, and spits on their palms. ]

Now you do it.

[fragileprophet]

[HE CAN'T. ESCAPE. This has never happened to him before in his life. HE stares down at their spitty palms with obvious surprise and has to admit:]

I'm not sure I understand!

[But he'll do it. It's gonna be a really weak spit glob.]

[ As long as there's spit! Natsuo takes his other hand and clasps it over their hands, spit squishing in between their palms and running down their wrists, it's super gross and Natsuo had provided a lot of spit. ]

It's a symbol of friendship! That's what I want you to protect!

[ spitty hands!! ]

[fragileprophet]

[This is both the grossest and cutest thing that's ever happened and I feel personally attacked. But with the meaning explained, Ion's discomfort ebbs and he smiles. His grip on Natsuo's hand tightens.]

Okay! I'll do that--you can count on me!

[randori]

I'm counting on you, then!

[ They shake on it!!

And then Natsuo wipes the spit off on his hands, because that's gross. Nobody wanted to do a blood oath with him so thank you for doing the next best thing with him. ]
