The Story Continues... CHAPTER 233 Narrators Remain ; There’s nothing to shake up the feeling of helplessness and betrayal quite like some renovations. Residents in the castle will find a gentle rumble stirring them out of their sleep on Monday morning, and if they choose to find the source of the noise, they’ll notice a newly constructed staircase on the second floor. It stretches up, up, up and will guide the Narrators to a third floor with all types of new installments to the castle. Go ahead, crack open a book, try your hand at some potion mixing. What could possibly go wrong? Just as last week, the morning that the dining hall opens, the tapestries of Ann Takamaki, Soo-won, and Dave Strider will all suddenly catch flame from the bottom, burning up and up until the entire tapestry is gone. Anyone who ventures outside will also find that the scenery has warmed up considerably. Snow no longer dusts the ground, but rather the warm sun and pleasant chirping of birds greet you to the castle grounds. The area has also been expanded, a new jousting grounds available for play and recreation. A set of stables stands next to the grounds, but anyone who ventures inside will find only hear the occasional, phantom whinny of a horse and – find some rather large feathers? Interesting. Finally, partners will find themselves unable to rest peacefully yet another week. While no paranoia creeps over anyone’s shoulders, when night falls and they find themselves sleeping, they’ll instead see dreams – or rather, some memories of their partner. Apparently the Crafters would rather that you all get to know each other sooner, rather than later. Hopefully you don’t see anything you’re not meant to. Welcome to Week 2, everyone! Today we've introduce new castle locations and brought a new round of partner effects, so please review those, including the Outside section on the Locations page. [She considers the question before holding up two of her fingers on her right hand, holding them close together.

Then he'll gesture towards him. How does he feel about it?]

[He's actually finding it's easy to understand her gestures and the non-verbal communication, so he holds up a hand and wobbles it back and forth.]

It's weird, but not as weird as some other things. It does explain why the castle looked much larger than two floors, but this is still only the third floor. I want to know how big it is. [At the language section, he stops and looks up before he grabs the shelf above him, beginning to steadily climb as his eyes scan the titles...he's concentrating a little too hard, but he's looking.]

[She stacks her hands on top of each other. The castle seems like a lot of floors when they go outside.

Rebecca doesn't follow him on his climbing adventures but she does stand underneath him, just in case he might fall.]

Maybe we'll get even more floors then next week. [This is as he's crawling around, reading the spines before he grins.] Perfect! Can you catch?

[More floors means more places to look as the number of people lowers each week... That's less good.

She gives a thumbs up!

A book isn't too difficult. There's a lot of surface area there.]

[He's dropping a few books down to her but at least it's one at a time! One's for ASL, one's a guide for teaching other people, and one's a book about Morse Code. He'll shimmy his way down the shelf and jump the last few feet to land on his feet.]

I thought the latter might help, too, just in case. Easy for short messages.

[She manages to catch two of them. One of them falls right to the floor, but she'll pick the book on Morse Code up.

[Farewell, book. But he shakes his head.]

I know a lot of languages, but that's one of the ones I never picked up. [He tilts his head thoughtfully.] But I can help you practice today to get the basics down.

[She'll close that book before holding up the ASL one. This one first!]

Good idea. [And he gestures for Rebecca to follow him toward a free couch, taking a seat and taking the book from her to flip it open.] Like any language it's probably a good idea to start with the basic alphabet. Spelling things out might be a pain, but if you know the letters you can move your hands quickly enough, I think.

Better than not being able to communicate at all. And the alphabet is at least accessible enough a few people would know it.

Though right now the signs are slow.]

[There's a nod and he flips to a few basic sentences.]

The thing about sign language especially is you have to make sure your hands aren't obscured and they're bent in just the right way. Otherwise you could be saying something totally different. I think writing stuff down might be easier, but they haven't been very forthcoming with providing paper for us.
