CHAPTER 2 ; MINGLE

The Story Continues...
CHAPTER 2
33 Narrators Remain ;
There’s nothing to shake up the feeling of helplessness and betrayal quite like some renovations.

Residents in the castle will find a gentle rumble stirring them out of their sleep on Monday morning, and if they choose to find the source of the noise, they’ll notice a newly constructed staircase on the second floor. It stretches up, up, up and will guide the Narrators to a third floor with all types of new installments to the castle.

Go ahead, crack open a book, try your hand at some potion mixing.

What could possibly go wrong?

Just as last week, the morning that the dining hall opens, the tapestries of Ann Takamaki, Soo-won, and Dave Strider will all suddenly catch flame from the bottom, burning up and up until the entire tapestry is gone.

Anyone who ventures outside will also find that the scenery has warmed up considerably. Snow no longer dusts the ground, but rather the warm sun and pleasant chirping of birds greet you to the castle grounds. The area has also been expanded, a new jousting grounds available for play and recreation. A set of stables stands next to the grounds, but anyone who ventures inside will find only hear the occasional, phantom whinny of a horse and – find some rather large feathers?

Interesting.

Finally, partners will find themselves unable to rest peacefully yet another week. While no paranoia creeps over anyone’s shoulders, when night falls and they find themselves sleeping, they’ll instead see dreams – or rather, some memories of their partner. Apparently the Crafters would rather that you all get to know each other sooner, rather than later.

Hopefully you don’t see anything you’re not meant to.

Welcome to Week 2, everyone! Today we've introduce new castle locations and brought a new round of partner effects, so please review those, including the Outside section on the Locations page. If you'd like to have your characters interact with the laboratory, please feel free to PP the mods! We would also like to remind players to submit all of their Prologue PCs and new PCs at the Private Conversations page and review the weekly ooc notes for important details in the castle.

Something exciting will be arriving on Wednesday, June 20th so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.

As a book, I take offense to your treatment of books.

[Just going to scoop up some of those carefully. It's okay, books, the mean boy won't hurt you anymore.]
resumed: (chat ♕ blah blah blah)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-19 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
...a book spirit? [He sounds even more curious now, sorry Dazai. He can take the books though and Nico's watching closely.] I had no idea.
thesettingsun: smile (from your cradle via trousseau)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-19 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
What would you expect a book spirit to look like? Paper instead of skin?

[Dazai thinks looking human is pretty reasonable, thanks.]
resumed: (reconsider ♕ huh.)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-20 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Not exactly. I've met all kinds of spirits that have looked unusual before, so I'm not that surprised by much. I just didn't think they were making it a habit of bringing spirits into this game.
thesettingsun: smile (I'm just as good as you)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-20 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not? They're equal opportunity for torment in every other respect. Gender, age, history of violence...
resumed: (intrigued ♕ do tell)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-20 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[A raised eyebrow.] And where do you fall on the scale of "history of violence"?
thesettingsun: smile (for not wanting to stay)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-20 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I fight monsters that are eating literature. Not people.

[So he isn't exactly prepared for the murder thing.]
resumed: (unsure ♕ /raises eyebrow)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-21 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Before he gets into anything else...]

...why are they eating literature?
thesettingsun: neutral (and you're better than)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-21 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure. They don't seem to be intelligent, or at least we've never been able to communicate. Research is the alchemists' job.
resumed: (neutral ♕ well anyway)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-21 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
So if the alchemists are doing something else, there must be a lot of you book spirits that're fighting to preserve the literature. [That makes sense, but also.] How do you fight them?
thesettingsun: smile (man)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-22 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Go inside books. Stab them with swords, shoot them with bows, et cetera. Repeat until Taint is destroyed.
resumed: (hesitate ♕ I'm not sure what you mean)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-23 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like the real world but between the pages. [...a glance at the book. A glance at Dazai. Book. Dazai.]

You can't go inside the books here, can you?
thesettingsun: smile (have you got my shit?)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-23 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
I tried, I can't. But it seems like most people have their powers switched off. My usual healing powers don't work either.
resumed: (trusting ♕ together?)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-23 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine are definitely switched off. What else can you usually do?
thesettingsun: smile (whether wig or hat or turban)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-24 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Summon a scythe from a book. It'd be handy for self-defense... except here all I can do is hit someone with it in book form. It's not even that heavy.
resumed: (neutral ♕ well anyway)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-26 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well...that's when you just swing harder.
thesettingsun: smile (man)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-26 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
...Do I look like a naturally athletic person to you?
resumed: (unsure ♕ /raises eyebrow)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-26 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
[A raise of an eyebrow.] Do I?
thesettingsun: smile (but it's so damn cold)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-26 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Not in particular. More like a proletariat author than anything else.

[Can you really blame him?]
resumed: (neutral ♕ whatever you want)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-26 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if I should feel insulted or not.
thesettingsun: neutral (a~h it's fine already)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-26 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Why would you be insulted by that? I could come up with much better insults if I wanted to.
resumed: (curious ♕ what a dumb point)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-26 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what proletariat means don't you? [It's not really something people go around calling other people, he thinks.]
thesettingsun: smile (and you will uh)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-27 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Of course I do! I was a communist when I was younger, it's not an insult.

[Even if his political views changed, he still has a great deal of respect for the writers.]
resumed: (reconsider ♕ huh.)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-27 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait what does one of those even have to do with the other? [Is he missing context here? He missed most of the height of communism, and also he's 14.]
thesettingsun: smile (have you got my shit?)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-28 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
What did you think proletariat meant?

[Dazai remembers when people could (and did) get tortured to death for being communists.]
