The Story Continues... CHAPTER 233 Narrators Remain ; There’s nothing to shake up the feeling of helplessness and betrayal quite like some renovations. Residents in the castle will find a gentle rumble stirring them out of their sleep on Monday morning, and if they choose to find the source of the noise, they’ll notice a newly constructed staircase on the second floor. It stretches up, up, up and will guide the Narrators to a third floor with all types of new installments to the castle. Go ahead, crack open a book, try your hand at some potion mixing. What could possibly go wrong? Just as last week, the morning that the dining hall opens, the tapestries of Ann Takamaki, Soo-won, and Dave Strider will all suddenly catch flame from the bottom, burning up and up until the entire tapestry is gone. Anyone who ventures outside will also find that the scenery has warmed up considerably. Snow no longer dusts the ground, but rather the warm sun and pleasant chirping of birds greet you to the castle grounds. The area has also been expanded, a new jousting grounds available for play and recreation. A set of stables stands next to the grounds, but anyone who ventures inside will find only hear the occasional, phantom whinny of a horse and – find some rather large feathers? Interesting. Finally, partners will find themselves unable to rest peacefully yet another week. While no paranoia creeps over anyone’s shoulders, when night falls and they find themselves sleeping, they’ll instead see dreams – or rather, some memories of their partner. Apparently the Crafters would rather that you all get to know each other sooner, rather than later. Hopefully you don’t see anything you’re not meant to. Welcome to Week 2, everyone! Today we've introduce new castle locations and brought a new round of partner effects, so please review those, including the Outside section on the Locations page. [Souji points to the line leading from between her index and middle finger and dipping off the upper edge of her palm on the other side.]

This one here is called the heart line! Let's see... This curve, that means you're very determined about going after what you love. Oh, and these lines here are good! They mean you'll find your truest love eventually, but I think this line means it might take a little while before you get there. There are a few of these things they call "islands" before you get to that part, too. I think that's got something to do with stubbornness...? Ah, or maybe it was resolve?

[He's sort of right? But she doesn't believe him so she'll hold up her other hand and give him a so-so kind of gesture with a wince.]

Hm... Not quite right, then? Maybe I read it wrong.

[Or maybe it's all nonsense from a weird book in a magic castle?!]

[A nod! And then she'll tap on "work" with an encouraging smile.]

Alright!

[BOUNCING RIGHT BACK he's ready and rarin' to try again. He carefully squints at the work line, lightly tracing it up as he goes.]

Hm... Okay! This part here indicates hard work and discipline. The way your finger's leaning says that you're a little superstitious, though... Maybe you feel better when you have things around to protect you from bad luck? The determination is back again, too - oh! And this line says you'd be a good judge of character, probably when it comes to people you work with or under. You have a good sense for who's going to help you out the most, I think.

[Is she superstitious? She doesn't really think she is. But she is stubborn and she worked very hard to get to where she was in New York.

This is more correct than the love line.

She gives him a thumbs up!]

Oh, good! I'd have worried that I somehow read this wrong if that was off, too.

[He reaches over to pat his good ol' astrology and palmistry book, beaming brightly.]

They do have a lot of fascinating things to read in that library, you know?

[A nod! She'll pull out a book herself. It's a collection of Grimm Fairy Tales.]

[sanguinairy]

[Curiously, he leans forward to take a look.]

Oh-- More fairy tales? I don't think I've looked at that one yet. [...] The ones I've read are a little gruesome, though.

[She'll flip to something that's less depressing.

The White Snake and turn it so he can read it. It's not her favorite story, but it's pretty good, she thinks.]

[sanguinairy]

[This is definitely much better than dancing to death in hot shoes or having your eyes pecked out by crows! Souji reads the story with obvious curiosity and interest, and he ends up smiling by the end of it.]

That one wasn't so bad. I liked the animal friends! [OF COURSE HE DOES his own animal friend is snoozing nearby, a testament to his favorite pastime of collecting new animal friends to add to his merry band of miscreants.]

People seem to be sent on an awful lot of impossible tasks in these stories, though. It's a wonder anything actually gets done.

[She flips the book to a different page and circles the word "sometimes" with a finger!

Things sometimes get finished!]

Hah, sometimes sounds about right.

[Though now that it's rampantly obvious HE'S GOT TO ASK...]

...Were you cursed?

[It's always the curses in this castle.]

[She makes a face and then nods with a big annoyed sigh.]

[sanguinairy]

That's an inconvenient one.

[He'd die if he couldn't pester people nonstop?? Tragic.]

Do you think you'll be like this the rest of the time we're here...?

[disclosures]

[She really doubts it's going to be that long.

Six fingers are held up.]

[sanguinairy]

Six... Six days, I hope?

[THAT'S STILL A LONGASS TIME but better than "indefinitely."]

[THUMBS UP.

That's what she meant.

It's Tuesday, so by next Monday she'll have her voice again.]

Oh, good! [Though the timing does give him pause and he looks vaguely concerned for a second...] I hope it doesn't cause you much trouble over Saturday.

[She winces and points to the words "expects" "it" "will".

Saturday is going to be a hell of a time and she's going to have to live with that.]

[A BAD TIME AHEAD... Souji's brow furrows, but he nods.]

Maybe you could use some of the book paper to write on. It might be easier than having to sign things or point to words.
