CHAPTER 2 ; MINGLE

The Story Continues...
CHAPTER 2
33 Narrators Remain ;
There’s nothing to shake up the feeling of helplessness and betrayal quite like some renovations.

Residents in the castle will find a gentle rumble stirring them out of their sleep on Monday morning, and if they choose to find the source of the noise, they’ll notice a newly constructed staircase on the second floor. It stretches up, up, up and will guide the Narrators to a third floor with all types of new installments to the castle.

Go ahead, crack open a book, try your hand at some potion mixing.

What could possibly go wrong?

Just as last week, the morning that the dining hall opens, the tapestries of Ann Takamaki, Soo-won, and Dave Strider will all suddenly catch flame from the bottom, burning up and up until the entire tapestry is gone.

Anyone who ventures outside will also find that the scenery has warmed up considerably. Snow no longer dusts the ground, but rather the warm sun and pleasant chirping of birds greet you to the castle grounds. The area has also been expanded, a new jousting grounds available for play and recreation. A set of stables stands next to the grounds, but anyone who ventures inside will find only hear the occasional, phantom whinny of a horse and – find some rather large feathers?

Interesting.

Finally, partners will find themselves unable to rest peacefully yet another week. While no paranoia creeps over anyone’s shoulders, when night falls and they find themselves sleeping, they’ll instead see dreams – or rather, some memories of their partner. Apparently the Crafters would rather that you all get to know each other sooner, rather than later.

Hopefully you don’t see anything you’re not meant to.

Welcome to Week 2, everyone! Today we've introduce new castle locations and brought a new round of partner effects, so please review those, including the Outside section on the Locations page. If you'd like to have your characters interact with the laboratory, please feel free to PP the mods! We would also like to remind players to submit all of their Prologue PCs and new PCs at the Private Conversations page and review the weekly ooc notes for important details in the castle.

Something exciting will be arriving on Wednesday, June 20th so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.

I CANT BELIEVE THIS

[personal profile] londonstar 2018-06-18 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
As much as I'd hate to say it, I believe there must be something "symbolic" about not giving us paper. This, though? Ridiculous.

[ but when fane takes out the flower, waver has to stop for a moment. he racks his brain, trying to recall a similar plant. nothing comes up. ]

May I ask what kind of plant that is?

ask and ye shall receive

[personal profile] faceripper 2018-06-19 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Symbolic. [ He scoffs ] No, I believe they're just being an ass. Which I suppose it could be both, but I'd hate to give them any intimation that they're clever.

[ He's petty. But. As the attention turns to the herb, Fane faces Waver and holds it out for him to take if he's interested. ]

Drudanae. It's somewhat rare, but it's a plant from Rivellon. Best known for its hallucinogenic properties, I do believe, since that's the only time I ever see anyone using it. Why, the Lizards use it for ritual properties for their Dreamers, but that's a practice I still barely understand. It's quite important to them, though.

Hah.

[ that actually gets a chuckle out of waver, his lips turning upwards into a smirk. he can't help but silently agree with him.

that said, he does pay attention to fane's explanation. lots of it, he doesn't understand, but he's able to get the gist of it. a hallucinogenic plant. ]

I see. We have many types of plants and fungi that have varying degrees of hallucinogenic properties as well. Though some used to be important for rituals in historic civilizations, their importance has degraded over the centuries up until the point that they're used for recreation.

Hmm... Perhaps Rivellon is somewhere in between, in that case. So far I know, only the Lizards have the concept of Dreamers.

[ He shrugs, then grabs a nearby mortar and pestle and gets to grinding up the drudanae since Waver didn't take it. ]

For the most part, I've only seen it in, shall we say, less than reputable establishments. [ He shakes his head ] Why, we had to kill a stupid little gang in Fort Joy over the stuff, which was a tremendous waste of everyone's time. [ ... ] Well, and lives, I suppose. We didn't even want it, but, no, the idiot couldn't be reasoned with.

Yes, similar situations occur where I am from as well. Those addicted will do anything in order to get their hands on that stuff-- even resort to violence.

[ waver shrugs. the talk about killing isn't one he agrees with a lot, but he won't cause a fuss either. he's more interested in is what fane is doing with the drudanae, anyways. ]

So what will you do with it? Use it?

Bizarre...

[ He mumbles to himself at Waver's first comment, so apparently, Fane's people didn't really have this problem. Or maybe he just wasn't aware of it. Regardless, he laughs, though it's short. ]

Me? Heavens no. Does it look like I can smoke anything? [ But without missing a beat, he answers the question to be clear. ] I've no lungs to smoke with and no brain to chemically alter. No, I'm simply preparing it in case someone else would like to use it. As I understand, eating the drudanae raw has ill effects, so I'll remove that temptation completely.

[ waver is this close to asking fane why the hell he thinks that giving drugs to a group of people that are meant to kill each other is anywhere close to a good idea.

however, he decides to keep that comment to himself, and simply hope that he doesn't see anyone suffering from any unwanted side effects. ]

I see. I suppose if anyone wants to distract themselves from their situation then they're free to do so. [ SHRUG ]

[ Fane scoffs as he waves a hand to dismiss the idea ]

Oh, I doubt it would be that pronounced. It doesn't seem that potent in the first place unless you're a Lizard. Regardless, this doesn't seem to be the conventional way to use it, but I see no drudanae pipes laying about.
