The Story Continues... CHAPTER 7 - WEEK 711 Narrators Remain ; Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve. Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take. By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Dragon at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand. Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate. The garden is strangely silent and there are no snacks today...it seems as though you'll be left to your own devices. Welcome to your trial post! Yeah. Basically, the appeal in Tiger's ending would be that—assuming the truth in everything, good intentions, etc.—it would end this war, once and for all. With Dragon's ending, it's still possible that a new Dragon and Tiger would emerge down the line.

An ending that puts an end to all this, at the cost of trapping us here with no more war to collect ink in, and an ending that doesn't promise any definite or permanent end. An endless cycle of war and more war.

[ he has had it Up To Here with the concept of prewritten stories and endings, honestly.

he still has some questions, honestly- how even if they're at a tie now, why it has never ended before, but. they're mostly irrelevant, by this point. ]

There really wasn't any better way without making our own, was there?

Basically! All our options are shitty, but what can you do.

... Dragon-sama's hope is that a new Tiger and Dragon wouldn't necessarily mean war, but I ...

I don't have the same faith that she does in that regard.

[So yep. Gotta make their own ending.]

Power tempts. I don't doubt that someone else would eventually make the same decision Tiger did.

Exactly.

And it's easy to justify that choice in the moment without thinking of the consequences.

... There was a time when Tiger and Dragon weren't at war. It's... unlikely. But it's possible.

Still, I think it's likely that eventually, there's gonna be a Tiger or Dragon who wants something badly enough that they'll try to get it -- and with the best of intentions, too.

There was a wish made upon the well not long after the last trial, asking for a better ending for everyone involved- you might already be aware of it, but if not then the well's answer was thus: there is no better way.

[ so you know what well, you can take your half answers and stuff it. we're fighting destiny and all that, rah rah overarching abyss plot threads. ]

We took that to mean it meant of the endings that have already been seen or written of prior.
