CHAPTER 6 - WEEK 6??? Narrators Remain ;

The clock begins to chime, and on the first note, curfew lifts. Your doors swing open, whether you are ready or not.

Leaving your room is a blur. The person you fell asleep beside — are they still there? Have they vanished? Were they ever there at all? You can't seem to recall clearly. What you are most aware of is the pervading sense of wrongness in the air, and how you can't hear anything but the chime of the clock. Even the sounds of your own voice and your own footsteps do not reach your ears.

By the time the time the clock strikes nine, you know one thing to be true: blood has been spilt.

Search the castle carefully — you wouldn't want to miss a single important detail, would you...?

Welcome to this week's investigation post!

This time, the mods will be providing top-levels for you to search. Please note the Locations page for your reference. Evidence — or lack thereof — will be noted in these threads. We ask that group threads consist of no more than 1-2 characters.

After the discovery of the body (or bodies) and any pertinent evidence, an IC announcement concluding the investigation will go up. You are then free to make your own toplevels on this post for any threads you would like to have between the end of the investigation and the start of the trial.

Veronica is just. Going to crumple to her knees next to the corpse, burying her face in her hands.]

I said I'm too tired for this.

[OKAY. Okay!! Time to inspect the body. Who are we looking at here and how fucked up are they?]

Ah... I think I found a hand, too?

[Maybe it belongs to that body Veronica was just lucky enough to find!! He'll take a closer look first before he tries to pull the hand out, though. Is it just nestled on top of the bush or is it jammed in there... If he moves the foliage a bit will he be able to see if it's attached to anything?]

[With the corpse still facedown, it's not easy to tell who it is! Whoever it is has an open wound on their back through which Veronica will be able to see cobblestone.

Is she going to turn the body over?

What Souji found looks like it was just sort of kicked in there. It's also not attached to anything, but with all the foliage, he'll need to pull it out to get a better look.]

... Seriously?

[Hm. Fun.

He looks at the wound on their back first, checking to see if it's as clean of blood as the injuries on most of their previous victims. Once that's done, she'll turn the body over to check who it is.]

[Just humming an affirmative. WHY DID SOMEONE KICK THIS HAND INTO THE BUSH... GOD.

Souji will indeed go to grab it from the foliage, though. Is there anything particularly of note about this hand.......]

[The wound is incredibly clean! In fact, she won't be able to see what color ink this person bleeds unless she, like, hugs the corpse to squeeze some out.

Anyway, once it's turned over... she'll see Natsuo's face, although the hair is pretty different.

Meanwhile, Souji will find that... this hand doesn't really feel as heavy as a hand in a glove should feel! ...but it also doesn't feel as light as single glove would, either. Hm.]

... Wait, did someone really kill Natsuo again? Is this Natsuo?

[Did he get a new look, or— Jesus Christ. She's losing ten years of her life from this scene alone. She's looking at the body more closely, to see if there are any additional injuries besides the uno wound?]

[What's up with this glove... Souji will take a peek to see if he can see what's in there that feels so strange.

Also, at the mention of Natsuo's name, his head snaps up and he's looking over.]

It's Natsuo-kun—? [WHY HAS THIS BOY DIED SO MANY TIMES... He'll move toward her to get a look at the body, and that sure is Natsuo's face, even if the hair is different.]

--That's his face, isn't it?

[What happened to his hair though... Actually, what happened to the rest of him too??]

[It's just uno wound! Aside from that, there doesn't seem to be a scratch on Natsuo(?).

Also, when Souji looks into the glove, he finds

another glove.]

Yes, but the hair...?

[HM!!!

Welp. Time to loot the corpse. Anything interesting in Natsuo's pockets? If not, she'll hesitate for a moment before... squeezing the body until ink comes out.]

Maybe it was a wish...?

[Or someone's ability?? The NPCs hair turned pink recently okay maybe it's more shenanigans like that.

EITHER WAY he's caught between looking distressed about Natsuo and looking distressed about this matryoshka glove.]

--It's not a hand. [THANK GOD.] It might be someone disposing of evidence? The other glove is inside.

there isn't anything in natsuo's pockets! but when she gives the corpse a hug, a small amount of golden ink seeps out from the wound.

anyway, what will souji be doing with gloveception?]

Do you see blood, or... I don't know, anything weird on the gloves?

[No loot. Sad. :'(

She does, uh, pause when the golden ink seeps out. Staring at it dumbly like she isn't entirely sure she's seeing things correctly.]

... Uhhhh, Souji. Natsuo's ink is gold.

[LET HIM CHECK,,, Is there any blood on the gloves? Hairs, tears? Souji will carefully extract the second and peek inside that too, careful to hold the edges in case... someone can idk fingerprint gloves???

[PEERING AT THE CORPSE. Oh, hm, yeah. That's gold.]

[no tears or hairs on the gloves - but there a lot of crimson on them! it sort of looked like they were just red gloves at first, but as he pulls them apart, he'll be able to see that some bits are suede.

on the wrist area of the one that was inside the other one, there's a slightly darker patch of red.]

Um, no. Pretty sure it's coming out of the wound, because I... mighthavesqueezedhim. Sorry.

[If there's nothing else on Natsuo(?), though, she's gonna look at their surroundings. Anything that might have been dropped around or inside the well?]

[the dark patch of red is very close to a much larger patch of red liquid ... it smells like ink with just the faintest hint of iron. or maybe that's just souji's bloodthirst talking?

(shut up. we know he has bloodthirst.)

the immediate area around Natsuo(?)'s body seems to be clear of anything that's been dropped; likewise, there's nothing visible down in the darkness of the well.]

... I don't see anything around or inside of the well. Have you found anything else?

[Hm. Nothing on the cobblestone either, right?]

[well, you aren't wrong about that.]

--It seems like there might be blood on these gloves? [HE SMELLS IT.] They also have ink on them. Red ink.

[And suede but does he even know what suede is by name?? Good questions. ANYWAY while she's checking the path, he'll also check the surrounding shrubs and grass and go stand near the well to see if anything's amiss out in the distance.]

No signs of a struggle...?

[Nothing amiss with the cobblestone or with the shrubs, grass, or well!]

Not that I can see. Natsuo didn't have any other injuries besides the, um... One on his back, either.

[Who the heck went after Natsuo again, though? Sheesh. She's going to go back and check Natsuo's nails just in case, but otherwise—]

[HE'S NERVOUS THOUGH. A WHOLEASS BODY IN THE PIANO. IT HAUNTS HIM.]
