CHAPTER 5 - WEEK 5??? Narrators Remain ;

The clock begins to chime, and on the first note, curfew lifts. Your doors swing open, whether you are ready or not.

Leaving your room is a blur. The person you fell asleep beside — are they still there? Have they vanished? Were they ever there at all? You can't seem to recall clearly. What you are most aware of is the pervading sense of wrongness in the air, and how you can't hear anything but the chime of the clock. Even the sounds of your own voice and your own footsteps do not reach your ears.

By the time the time the clock strikes nine, you know one thing to be true: blood has been spilt.

Search the castle carefully — you wouldn't want to miss a single important detail, would you...?

Welcome to this week's investigation post!

This time, the mods will be providing top-levels for you to search. Please note the Locations page for your reference. Evidence — or lack thereof — will be noted in these threads. We ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.

After the discovery of the body (or bodies) and any pertinent evidence, an IC announcement concluding the investigation will go up. You are then free to make your own toplevels on this post for any threads you would like to have between the end of the investigation and the start of the trial.

that said, waver is a bit taller than dazai, so he can just look over his shoulder to see what’s happening. WHAT IS BEHIND DOOR NUMBER ONE YOU GUYS????? ]

[BLOOD.

Well. It looks like blood, anyway. There is a large amount of crimson liquid part of the way into the room, with smaller droplets scattered between the puddle and the door.

It also looks like there's something in the puddle, but they'll have to get closer to see for sure.]

[Oh it's just blood. Or crimson ink, okay.

Dazai approaches the Thing in the Puddle, all while considering whether or not he should take off his shoes if he has to wade into it. Ink is a pain to wash off shoes...]

[ waver is also doing the same as dazai, except standing on the other side of the puddle. he looks at it, and then looks at the door. his expression is one of concern and seriousness. clearly something happened here. ]

Well, this is a good place to have a fight, with it being soundproof and all.

[That thing in the puddle is a familiar-looking dagger. Luckily, the hilt seems clear of the liquid - the handle is just at the edge of the puddle - but the blade is fully coated.]

...Do you have a handkerchief we could pick this up with? I don't want to get my prints on it...

[Careful handling of evidence. Imagine.]

Unfortunately, no. All I have are my gloves and I’d rather not get them dirty if we’re still bound to get them tomorrow in the trial.

[ he frowns, sighing. he won’t touch the puddle or the dagger, but he is looking at it closely. ]

It seems that there was, at least, a fight. At most, a casualty. And if that’s the case, then... I guess they felt the need to move the body out of the music hall to make things more difficult. It seems like they got a good hit, too, from all the blood on the blade.

[The dagger and the puddle just sit there while they talk.]

[It's better than the dagger moving...]

So leave it untouched. Understood, Sensei.

[Now Dazai's looking for more signs of a fight than the obvious 'giant blood puddle'. Has any furniture been shoved around or toppled over? Indents in the walls?]

It’s best to leave things untouched now. Especially since this is technically a crime scene.

[ he will also be looking around! anything besides the blood puddle and dagger?! ]

[The furniture in this room seems more or less undisturbed, and there aren't any indents on the walls. Aside from the puddle itself, there's droplets of blood leading from the puddle to the door, but there's less of them the closer they get to the door.]

Doesn't look like the fight disturbed much...

[Is there anything under chairs, or something.]

Then perhaps this was where the fight ended. Cornered in this room, the person was attacked by their assailant and... well, we don’t know what happened after that. [ he sighs. the thought alone makes him want to shudder ]

I can only hope that if there’s no corpse here it’s because they got out of it alive.

[There isn't anything under the chairs!]

I'd like to be that kind of optimistic, but I doubt I can be.

[The ink droplets stop before the door connecting back to the main music room. Is anything disturbed immediately around the door on that side?]

Yeah. It’d be foolish to be.

[ waver stands up with a sigh, looking outside the door with a tense expression. ]

Perhaps, if the fight ended here inside the practice room, then these drops of blood could be that the person was already injured before coming here. They tried to hide, but to no avail.

[There's nothing that looks disturbed immediately around the door.

Anything else they want to check in the main music hall itself? Maybe they want to check for fingers in flutes or more missing tuning forks?]

[he's gonna check the tuning fork box bracket text don't sass him]

Really? The tuning forks?

[ waver’s just.... god, he doesn’t know anymore. he’ll look again in the shelves for anything. maybe some beethoven? ]

If there’s a body, then it was probably moved out of here. I think we found as much as possible.

[The tuning forks don't look as though they've been disturbed this week! Waver will indeed find some Beethoven on the shelves.

[Dazai's going to stop searching because Waver said it was stupid.]

[ he sighs. ]

Thanks. [ look dazai!!!!! recognition!!! ] Maybe we should call it off though. Someone must have found the body by now.

[Recognition!! Dazai perks back up immediately.]

Right! So, while we're waiting for the announcement, I'll make you some coffee ♥ Black like last time, Sensei?

[ waver looks away, a light blush on his cheeks. ]

You really don’t have to, you know? But... sure, why not.

[and thus they left the music hall for the more important quest of getting waver some goddamn coffee and dazai some validation]
