The Story Continues... CHAPTER 526 Narrators Remain ; Now, what are the odds that this week will be as quiet as the last one? … look, we have to at least humor the idea, don’t we? The rumbling that awakens Narrators on this lovely Monday morning is – larger. It’s louder, it’s more intense, and it lasts longer, like one final shove. Once it concludes, the castle is quiet, almost tired in its stillness. Should anyone wander into the dining hall this week, they will find that none of the tapestries burn up in true testament that no ink had been spilt and no Narrators have left us. Should you choose to explore the grounds and find the new additions to the castle – you’ll likely be surprised to say the very least. In the interest of recreation, the pumpkin patch has been opened – and you’re more than welcome to see if you fare better in a pumpkin carriage better than our Cinderella did. What’s the harm in giving it a try? Or if you’re more interested in paying your respects, the shrines of the Tiger and the Dragon are both open. Shall you see what happens if you try to leave an offering? You know what they say – nothing ventured, nothing gained. Or maybe you’ll find your friends. Your dearly departed, delightfully preserved friends in the morgue. Reunions always bring a tear to the eye, don’t they? As if the sky mourns with you, Narrators will find that on Tuesday afternoon, it will begin to rain. It pours and it pours and it pours… and it will show no sign of stopping until Friday evening. Plan accordingly. Stay dry. Finally, partners had best get comfortable with the idea of touching into the spirit of generosity. They'll feel compelled to be kind to their partner, including possibly making or giving them a present. Isn't that just the sweetest? This feeling will dwell until the beginning of Thursday night's curfew. Welcome to Week 5, everyone! Hopefully you all enjoyed your break week and are ready for your regularly scheduled murder! [She's unsure of their effects when they're not all taken together.]

Because the first week's wishes all got messed up. My ears bled, your hands got sticky- I assume.

Maybe it would, would be worth trying...?

[He nods.]

Yeah. But... I-I don't know what happened to your ears, but mine was because I wasn't, wasn't specific enough. So, if you have another token, I bet it would be different.

[disclosures]

[She looks out into the distance for a moment before nodding.] I think... that's a good idea.

It's better than going around like this. [She lifts up her glass- and then drinks the rest of it.] Ugh.

[selfinserting]

Okay.

[He doesn't say anything to stop her from downing the rest of it, but...]

Maybe you should have some, some water, too.

[disclosures]

Does this place make water? I don't want to walk all the way back down to the kitchen for that.

[selfinserting]

...You could, um, ask? Or I could grab some water for you, if you don't want to.

[disclosures]

Please be my hero.

[selfinserting]

[A surprised laugh, shaking his head.]

It's, um, it's just water, not really... heroic. But, um, I'll be right back, okay?

[And he stands, turning towards the door.

[disclosures]

[She giggles mostly to herself and then horrifically off-key:]

Don't you know that you're my heeeerooooo...

[selfinserting]

[...

He walks a little quicker to the door. It's fine, he'll be back in a few minutes.]

[disclosures]

[While he's gone she'll completely finish the cheese and crackers she's ordered. It's all here, she might as well eat it.]

[selfinserting]

[He comes back within several minutes, holding a glass of water as promised, setting it down on the counter.]

Um, here you go.

[disclosures]

[While he was gone there's another full gin and tonic in front of her.]

You're a good kid.

[selfinserting]

[He's about to respond to that when he notices the drink she's gotten herself.]

Are you, sure sure that you should, um...

[disclosures]

Oh, I'm not sure at all, but I might drink it anyway.

[selfinserting]

...If I try to take it from you, are you going to get angry?

[disclosures]

Are you going to drink it? As an adult I should probably tell you not to do it.

I mean, I won't stop you, but it's not a good idea. Especially if there's a history of alcoholism in your family.

[selfinserting]

No, no, I'm not going to drink it! I'm just... going to, to stop you from drinking it.

[disclosures]

But yeah, you can take it.

No, there isn't, but - I'm not old enough, so...

[He slides it away from her, then, putting it behind him on the counter.]

Good, good. Try not to make too many mistakes that you can't get out of when you're growing up. I mean, you have plenty of time to recover from most things, but don't get involved with hard drugs.

[selfinserting]

I wasn't, wasn't exactly planning on it...?

[disclosures]

Good! Keep making good decisions. Like not doing drugs.

[selfinserting]

There aren't really any drugs here...? But, um, you too. T-Thanks.

[disclosures]

You could definitely wish them-- don't do that. I know I said it but don't do that. If you have to wish for any kind of drug go with like... pot? It'll just make you drowsy and hungry.

Unless you're allergic to it.
