CHAPTER 526 Narrators Remain ;

Now, what are the odds that this week will be as quiet as the last one?

… look, we have to at least humor the idea, don’t we?

The rumbling that awakens Narrators on this lovely Monday morning is – larger. It’s louder, it’s more intense, and it lasts longer, like one final shove. Once it concludes, the castle is quiet, almost tired in its stillness. Should anyone wander into the dining hall this week, they will find that none of the tapestries burn up in true testament that no ink had been spilt and no Narrators have left us.

Should you choose to explore the grounds and find the new additions to the castle – you’ll likely be surprised to say the very least.

In the interest of recreation, the pumpkin patch has been opened – and you’re more than welcome to see if you fare better in a pumpkin carriage better than our Cinderella did. What’s the harm in giving it a try? Or if you’re more interested in paying your respects, the shrines of the Tiger and the Dragon are both open. Shall you see what happens if you try to leave an offering? You know what they say – nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Or maybe you’ll find your friends. Your dearly departed, delightfully preserved friends in the morgue.

Reunions always bring a tear to the eye, don’t they?

As if the sky mourns with you, Narrators will find that on Tuesday afternoon, it will begin to rain. It pours and it pours and it pours… and it will show no sign of stopping until Friday evening. Plan accordingly. Stay dry.

Finally, partners had best get comfortable with the idea of touching into the spirit of generosity. They'll feel compelled to be kind to their partner, including possibly making or giving them a present. Isn't that just the sweetest? This feeling will dwell until the beginning of Thursday night's curfew.

I mean, he's definitely blunt and kind of... tactless, but that doesn't make him mean. There's just a lot of cultural differences, that's all.

I guess that's fair enough. He's an Eternal, right? I still don't really know what that means. Do you?

Sort of. The, the short of it is that his people can't die the same way humans can? And their appearance varied a lot more than ours. It's, it's pretty fascinating actually, considering the skeletal shape is practically the same as ours, but it has something to do with their life force.

I heard a little about that too. He was like, imprisoned for a really long time? But he didn't die.

Well there's lots of worlds out there, I guess that makes things less weird? More weird? I don't know.

It's... pretty weird. But an interesting kind of weird? Everyone's experiences are definitely different.

Do you think he's the gossip type?

Because I heard from Akechi that Fane said that Tiger and Dragon used to be exes. I don't know what brought that up.

... Wait, did they?

[ why would anyone lie about this ]

I have no idea, it's just what I've heard.

Well, we all know Akechi lies. Maybe he started it? Or maybe it's actually true.

It's a weird lie to tell. They have been around for a long time... I guess it wouldn't be that weird if they'd dated?

I mean they've been stuck in this place together for... who knows how long. Maybe it's why they don't get along.

You're probably too young to have exes, but that's definitely how I act around mine. Sometimes I just argue to argue.

Yeah, I... keep it strictly to the awkward crushing phase. [ it's a joke, and self-deprecating, but. listen. it's real. ] But I guess that makes sense. Breaking off relationships is hard and people can get... bitter.

You're like... 12. That's probably a good idea.

Who knows how old Dragon and Tiger are? I'd be bitter if I had to live with my ex for the rest of my life and I'm not immortal.
