The Story Continues... CHAPTER 526 Narrators Remain ; Now, what are the odds that this week will be as quiet as the last one? … look, we have to at least humor the idea, don’t we? The rumbling that awakens Narrators on this lovely Monday morning is – larger. It’s louder, it’s more intense, and it lasts longer, like one final shove. Once it concludes, the castle is quiet, almost tired in its stillness. Should anyone wander into the dining hall this week, they will find that none of the tapestries burn up in true testament that no ink had been spilt and no Narrators have left us. Should you choose to explore the grounds and find the new additions to the castle – you’ll likely be surprised to say the very least. In the interest of recreation, the pumpkin patch has been opened – and you’re more than welcome to see if you fare better in a pumpkin carriage better than our Cinderella did. What’s the harm in giving it a try? Or if you’re more interested in paying your respects, the shrines of the Tiger and the Dragon are both open. Shall you see what happens if you try to leave an offering? You know what they say – nothing ventured, nothing gained. Or maybe you’ll find your friends. Your dearly departed, delightfully preserved friends in the morgue. Reunions always bring a tear to the eye, don’t they? As if the sky mourns with you, Narrators will find that on Tuesday afternoon, it will begin to rain. It pours and it pours and it pours… and it will show no sign of stopping until Friday evening. Plan accordingly. Stay dry. Finally, partners had best get comfortable with the idea of touching into the spirit of generosity. They'll feel compelled to be kind to their partner, including possibly making or giving them a present. Isn't that just the sweetest? This feeling will dwell until the beginning of Thursday night's curfew. Welcome to Week 5, everyone! Hopefully you all enjoyed your break week and are ready for your regularly scheduled murder! [there must be some masochistic part of Akechi that brings him here, face-to-face with both his victim and the woman who died in his stead. fortunately, he isn't alone when he arrives, which saves everyone (including Akechi himself) from his brooding]

Is it? [ no, it is and he knows it. ] I mean, they're on the Other Side, right? Or their ... souls are. [ he's not sure how this works. ] Beauty and the Beast got "banished" there, so it's some place you can just be sent to without dying, ergo, it's a place you can exit?

Write back implies I've been in contact with them in the first place. But, I don't know? Maybe. I haven't decided yet.

[ it's a bit. weird. to write to the dead. even if they're not... perma-dead? ]

Not even Beauty and the Beast? I'd have thought you'd want to get as much information as possible if you could. Isn't that what you said detectives do?

Well, Ion said during the trial that Beast wrote to him, right? Hypothetically, doesn't that mean we could write to them?

I wouldn't know. Though it's certainly worth trying.

[ writing letters to the dead is still weird. ]

[ there's a pause before he turns to look back at Rapunzel's case ]

... It'd be weird to send one to them but not to her. And. I don't know.

[. . . . oh. same hat, Varian. except Akechi's thinking of Monika and 2B and Ann, and how weird it'd be to write to Beauty or Beast and not one of them]

Well, if neither of us are willing to try, we could always ask someone else.

Ha. So, like... someone who already got a letter from them?

[ time to harass ion? obviously. ]

Yes, exactly. We already know they're willing to communicate with people like Ion-san, so it's a particularly good idea.

Hmm... I wonder why they picked him in particular, and if they contacted anyone else?

[doublecrows]

Again, I wouldn't know. The letters Ion-san and. . . Ion-san brought up at the last trial are the first I've heard of any communication between us and those on the other side.

I wonder if they were only able to contact people because the owlery opened? That might explain some of it.

It certainly would. There is no other postal system in the manor.

Though then... That raises the question of where the Other Side is, if they're affected by owl transportation.
