CHAPTER 5 ; MINGLE

The Story Continues...
CHAPTER 5
26 Narrators Remain ;
Now, what are the odds that this week will be as quiet as the last one?

… look, we have to at least humor the idea, don’t we?

The rumbling that awakens Narrators on this lovely Monday morning is – larger. It’s louder, it’s more intense, and it lasts longer, like one final shove. Once it concludes, the castle is quiet, almost tired in its stillness. Should anyone wander into the dining hall this week, they will find that none of the tapestries burn up in true testament that no ink had been spilt and no Narrators have left us.

Should you choose to explore the grounds and find the new additions to the castle – you’ll likely be surprised to say the very least.

In the interest of recreation, the pumpkin patch has been opened – and you’re more than welcome to see if you fare better in a pumpkin carriage better than our Cinderella did. What’s the harm in giving it a try? Or if you’re more interested in paying your respects, the shrines of the Tiger and the Dragon are both open. Shall you see what happens if you try to leave an offering? You know what they say – nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Or maybe you’ll find your friends. Your dearly departed, delightfully preserved friends in the morgue.

Reunions always bring a tear to the eye, don’t they?

As if the sky mourns with you, Narrators will find that on Tuesday afternoon, it will begin to rain. It pours and it pours and it pours… and it will show no sign of stopping until Friday evening. Plan accordingly. Stay dry.

Finally, partners had best get comfortable with the idea of touching into the spirit of generosity. They'll feel compelled to be kind to their partner, including possibly making or giving them a present. Isn't that just the sweetest? This feeling will dwell until the beginning of Thursday night's curfew.

Welcome to Week 5, everyone! Hopefully you all enjoyed your break week and are ready for your regularly scheduled murder! We would also like to remind players to submit all of their Chapter 4 PCs and new PCs at the Private Conversations page and review the weekly ooc notes for important details in the castle.

Something exciting will be arriving on Wednesday, July 11th so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.

[ i don't know my days of the week but THAT'S EVEN WORSE ]

You were trying to cut down a tree.

[ Reasonable. ]

And you stopped looking.

[ Unreasonable. Bad. You were holding an ax. Don't do this. ]
alchemenace: (are you allergic to dolphins?)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-10 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the grounds are pretty big, and it's been hours, so I really didn't think anyone would be walking by?

[ no he has bad tree cutting etiquette. shame him. ]

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-10 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I mean-

[ He points to the tree, where the trunk's been cut through halfway, with the other half in splinters where it'd finally snapped and let the tree go toppling over. ]

Just in general, shouldn't you be watching? You gotta cut in the same place again and again. I tried with my sword once, and it doesn't really work in one shot.
alchemenace: (and there's wheels!)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-10 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, I was watching the tree, just not the... area behind it.

[ you know he probably should not be justifying himself to the kid he dropped a tree on? ]

A-anyway, it was an accident. You're sure you're okay?
Edited (what the fuck where did monday come from) 2018-07-10 22:32 (UTC)

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-10 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm okay.

[ Given the way he grimaces as he pulls himself up onto his feet, that's probably a lie, but he's okay enough to stand and not keel right over. It seems like his bones are fully intact, and he has enough muscle on his legs to pad the blow, mostly because I don't feel like playing two broken legs this week. ]

I've had a lot worse injuries, so this is nothing!
alchemenace: (it's crazy how much she flirts with me)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-10 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ wow weak cut off both his legs ]

I know you've had worse injuries, you died three weeks ago? That's kind of not reassuring.

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-10 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He can't go around barreling into people on knee nubs!! That's half my threads, Zia ]

That doesn't count! That was a painless death and I don't even remember it, so just pretend it didn't happen!
alchemenace: (what? you don't need closet space)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-10 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[ you just aren't determined enough card ]

You can't ... pretend it never happened, that's not how that works?

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-10 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He places a hand on his chest. ]

That's what I've been doing.

[ Death didn't happen. That whole week was a lie. ]
alchemenace: (you don't outgrow punk sir)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-11 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ well. hm. he frowns ]

So what about Sandalphon? Are you just pretending for that, too?
randori: (303)

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-11 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Well... no... I "died" and he brought be back and I'm being ungrateful pretending that didn't happen 'cause I don't want to talk about my own "death." That's how it is, right?

[ Maybe he just wants to remain in denial, Varian. He doesn't want to process this. ]
alchemenace: (it's crazy how much she flirts with me)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-11 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
What? No. Killing you was still messed up, and he didn't even know for sure if it would've worked in time because he didn't ask how his 'gift' actually worked, so it was more luck than anything--

[ wait this isn't what he meant ]

I'm not saying you should talk about dying, but just denying all of it isn't a long-term option, either.

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-11 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'm okay with short-term.

[ His policy in life is to live in the short-term anyways, there is no forward thinking here. As long as he doesn't think about it and doesn't bring it up, then he can keep the peace, no matter how disrespectful it is to everybody involved. ]
alchemenace: (so you chose your dad over me)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-11 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
... Okay.

[ he's not close enough to natsuo to object to that. but. he can object to this: ]

But in the short term, we should probably still make sure you're not too injured? Just because you've had worse doesn't mean you shouldn't. Treat it.

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-11 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not bleeding, so how would you treat it? [ No way is he taking anything from the infirmary, because he wants to at least make it to Friday before he dies. ]

Crutches or something? let me borrow some of your tree.
alchemenace: (kwazy with a w. a backwards w.)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-11 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Fane has painkillers? [ weed, technically, but varian also saw what happened in the infirmary ]

But, but yeah, we can make you some makeshift crutches. I don't need the whole tree, anyway.

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-11 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Why does Fane need painkillers...? [ He's a skeleton? Either way, hopefully a couple joints have made it over to Steph, who he thinks needs painkillers more than he does, dragging himself over to the tree and finding a sturdy branch or two he can snap off. ]

And what're you cutting down trees for, anyways? It's not that cold in the castle anymore, and there's other stuff you can use for smoke signals.
alchemenace: ('sup rudiger? just digging through the)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-11 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
... [ shrugs. listen he. he doesn't know why fane needs painkillers. ]

Oh, no, I'm, um, I'm trying to make a prosthesis. For Stephie? [ who else is missing a goddamn limb. ] We don't have any other materials easily available, so. Wood it is!

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-11 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ There are a lot of material that maybe isn't the shape of a leg, but certainly comes closer to the size of one that isn't an entire tree, however small it is... But, well, it's not like Natsuo has any idea how a prosthetic works, him imagining a pirate's peg leg- simple and functional. ]

That sorta stuff is usually plastic? Or metal? You could've used my sword.

[ Instead of a peg or a hook, a stabby sword leg, wouldn't that be cool? ]
alchemenace: (it's crazy how much she flirts with me)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-11 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[ varian voice: what's a plastic

Also why didn't I make a sword leg instead wow ]

Believe me, if I could make it out of metal, I would. [ half of alchemy is apparently making really intense machines so. ] We have so much in the armory. But, um, the fireplace doesn't get nearly warm enough for me to shape metal like that, and I'm kind of trying for a more... leg shape? That's why I cut down a tree instead of just repurposing the furniture in the castle.

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-12 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's never too late to install a hidden switchblade sword into the side of the prosthetic. ]

Ohh, I guess, yeah. The furniture in the castle is super flimsy and breaks too easily. [ He would know because... never mind. ] There's always the suits of armor- do you think they'll be angry if you stole a leg?
alchemenace: (are you allergic to dolphins?)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-12 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
I... don't think the empty suit of armor will be able to handle her body weight if she tries to walk on it? It's not really solid.

[ natsuo please ]

[personal profile] randori 2018-07-12 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
You can put a cap over it and strap it on.

[ Hollow is good, right? Less weight, and armor should be sturdy enough. ]
alchemenace: ('sup rudiger? just digging through the)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-07-12 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
I think ... I'll stick to my original plan. But yours is a good back up?

[ it is not. ]
