The Story Continues... CHAPTER 3 - WEEK 329 Narrators Remain ; Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve. Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take. By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Tiger at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand. Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate. Throughout today's trial, the delightful, delectable scent of freshly brewed coffee will linger in the air though there will be no coffee present. [ After checking the dagger against the corpses (and very politely hiding their new stab wounds, you're welcome), Fane has some findings to share. ]

If we're all quite done talking about weddings and other inane bullshit... I do have something to share. Each of our victims could have been stabbed with the dagger found by Francis, it seems.

So what was Thursday supposed to be - a warm-up?

[ He sighs and shakes his head ]

That, or we have a remarkable string of coincidences. Has anyone seen this dagger in the castle before by any chance?

Then we're really just looking for one killer?

... Two, I suppose, if this was a Blotter thing.

[faceripper]

[ He nods ]

Somehow, yes. Whoever it is, they really seemed to have taken matters into their own hands. [ He shakes his head ] Why, though? With the Blotters, it at least seems that there's little choice, but that doesn't explain Thursday.

In other words, we're basically back to square one.

[ Yeah, Fane notices, and Belph does get +5 for that... ]

Well... Yes and no. I think it still tells us something valuable. However, it doesn't quite point to anyone in particular. At least save for those who are experienced with weapons, I suppose? But that's hardly rare with this group.

Can we tell anything about Monika and Fitzgerald's relative time of death?

That I do not know.

[ He shakes his head and motions to him ]

If someone has a better base of knowledge on that, be my guest. It may be quite useful.

So, we might just have one killer? Or one main one, anyway?

So it seems.

[ He shrugs, though it comes with a sigh ]

And one presumably skilled enough to kill three people without getting too injured, if I overheard the results of our body searches correctly. Though it may be worth looking more closely, all things considered.

[ He nods ]

Yes. It seems that if this dagger was used, our killer—or killers, since I don't want to discount that possibility—had access to it before Thursday evening.

That dagger had been thoroughly cleaned when we found it, but it still smelled like it had been used... if it matches all of them, then perhaps it needed to be cleaned to get rid of differently colored ink.

[faceripper]

[ He taps a finger against his chin thoughtfully ]

Perhaps. That would make sense, but only to an extent. It would mean the killer was assuming we would not check it against the bodies, wouldn't it?

If that's true, then why space them out and risk someone finding the dagger before Friday morning?

[ He shakes his head ]

I've no idea. That's what I find perplexing, honestly. It was by Francis, wasn't it?

... Do we know where the dagger came from? Is it from this castle?

[faceripper]

[ He shrugs ]

I've no idea. That's a good question for those who took a much closer inventory of weaponry. Admittedly, my focuses for inventory were... elsewhere.

Of course. Why make it straightforward?

[ He sighs, then adds: ]

Not that I would expect such a thing to even point to anyone in particular. That too would be too convenient.

Of course.

[ And he hands it over without complaint! Have fun stabbing bodies!! ]
