The Story Continues... CHAPTER 3 - WEEK 329 Narrators Remain ; Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve. Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take. By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Tiger at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand. Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate. Throughout today's trial, the delightful, delectable scent of freshly brewed coffee will linger in the air though there will be no coffee present. I can... at least say that my objective, like Monika's, also came in a set of three.

So then, maybe, the objective was "kill three people".

I still don't get why one of them was on a completely different day though...

There's only so much time on Thursday night. Maybe it was easier to fit into their schedule.

It's a lot riskier to do it when there's no curfew though.

And yet, we didn't find a single thing that pointed to a killer on Thursday.

We don't know if the same magic that keeps us from noticing our partners are dead in the morning, would also keep us from noticing someone walking around with a knife on Thursday.

I'm leaning towards magic, as much as I hate it.

Although then what's even the point of locking us in.

Maybe they like their livestock all in one place. Easy picking.

Ugh.

Assuming that you were chosen as a Blotter and you had that objective, and assuming that you couldn't kill three people in one night... The odds of being chosen as a Blotter two weeks in a row seem low.

[especially with the mods at a con next week]

But you could do a non-Blotter murder on a Thursday night, couldn't you?

As long as you tell the Crafters beforehand, yeah, from what it looks like.

...But at the same time, it's dangerous going around looking to kill someone when it's guaranteed that someone else is going around looking to kill someone.

[vigilantics]

I'd assume the Crafters would have something to deal with that? It wouldn't work otherwise.

So this might just be a matter of convenience for the killer, assuming it's one who did most of the, uh "heavy lifting."

If they're a Blotter, might as well get their objective done in the same week.

[vigilantics]

The problem is that we really won't know for sure until we get that killer count, huh.

[selfinserting]

If the fact that the, the crime scenes were so similar means that the same person killed Hijikata and Monika... Maybe they could only do one, one a day.

[vigilantics]

I'm not sure... depending on how it's done, it could be doable.

[selfinserting]

It could be, but... Maybe they wanted to be careful. If there's no penalty to killing someone on a different, um, day of the week... Wouldn't it be safer for them to do it that way?

[vigilantics]

[ she glances to glass cases. ]

I'm not sure if this counts as no penalty? We're still trying to figure out the murder.

[selfinserting]

Well, yeah, but I meant... a, a penalty specifically to the person who killed them. Like, obviously they'll be in trouble when we find out who they are, but - because of what they did, not because of what day they did it on.

[vigilantics]

Maybe we should go ask?

[asswipe]

Tiger said she didn't know when Hijikata would be killed... so maybe the killer saw him alone on Thursday and figured that they might as well get it over with then?

[selfinserting]

But... If it were that sporadic, wouldn't there be a struggle or something?

[asswipe]

I'd assume, yeah... But we haven't found any signs of a struggle for Monika or Fitzgerald, so who knows if there's something that kept all three of them from noticing the killer. A lot about this doesn't make sense.

...I've heard a few that involved a set of three, too. So - that could have been it.
