END OF CHAPTER 1 ; EXECUTION
END OF CHAPTER 1 - WEEK 1 It's execution day, naughty murder children. Breakfast is served in the dining hall, all the better to fortify you for what is to come. Wherever you might wander in the castle, you will find yourself drawn to the foyer when the clock strikes not twelve, but ten. In the distance, there is the sound of clanking armor. Ann Takamaki appears, flanked on either side by suits of armor, escorting her to her punishment. She stares straight ahead with each step closer to the group that they take. A moment later, the Tiger appears on the foyer's staircase. Her hand trails down the banister as she sashays down it, and she takes her place at the head of the group, standing in front of what appears to be a wall. "Come along, darlings," she says. "The execution awaits." You blink, and then it's there — a door leading to the outside. The Tiger steps through it. You have no choice but to follow. ![]() Welcome to your second execution post! [at that, Akechi just shrugs]

[can't deny that. to him, a swift execution would've been merciful. but instead he's forced to live for at least an entire week, with the entire population of the manor knowing what his true face looks like]
[that's a far worse punishment than anything Akechi could have ever asked for]
But nothing about what happened was merciful. Unless there are parts of it that you claim can be considered as such?
no subject
[not that the execution would've been great, either way.]

[does he care if she's still alive? does he care whether her story is finished or not? heck if he knows]
It is what it is.

[he's quiet for a moment.]
Do you believe in destiny, detective?
no subject
[oh]
I do. Why?

[again, another immediate answer. no elaboration, no follow up. not this time]

[he's genuinely curious as to what akechi thinks.]
no subject
What?
[he has no answer to that, because he never thought about it in those kinds of terms. at least, not the terms of. . . here and now. fate was his role in the game Yaldabaoth constructed back home. fate was his place at Shido's side, ready to tear him down at a moment's notice. that was fate, that was the fate he knew he couldn't-- or didn't-- want to fight]
[this is. . . ?]
no subject
Some people might think that way, if destiny is real and can't be fought.
no subject
I don't know.

And what do you plan to do about your not knowing?

What is there to do?
