The Story Continues...
CHAPTER 1 - WEEK 134 Narrators Remain ;

Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve.

Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take.

By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Tiger at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand.

Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate.

Throughout today's trial, the snow continues to fall as it has all week, though it's gentle and soft. Instead of tea and crumpets, today's snack bar includes the makings for s'mores, including sharp metal skewers. A fire could be built, should anyone have anything flammable. Additionally, every now and then, the howls of a group of wolves will penetrate the silence that occasionally falls on the the group...and sometimes even in the heat of the moment.

[ interesting. Hikage is returning from talking to Tiger with a stick. You might recognize it!! ]

Akechi, come over here. You too, Ion. The one Stephanie shot with her grappling hook.

[ his tone of voice doesn't brook any disagreements... ]

O-Oh, okay.

[He stands from his chair and wobbles, but with his walking staff in hand he's able to stabilize himself and heads over obediently.]

How can I help?

Let me see your injury.

[ a pause. boy, this kid looks pathetic... Hikage's expression actually softens slightly. Don't tell anyone. ]

Don't take it personally. I'm just trying to figure this out.

[Your secret is safe here. Ion rolls up his sleeve to reveal a bandage around his wrist.]

Give me a moment to just...

[He clumsily starts to undo the bandage, revealing a prominent puncture wound, badly inflamed.]

Thanks.

[ don't worry, he's not Fane, so he's not going to stab poor Ion with the branch. He is going to compare the bloodied point of the branch to that puncture wound, though. Does it look like it might be the right size to have caused it? ]

[Potentially, yes--the shape seems off, like it's a bit too clean to have been made by wood, but, hard to say honestly, with the state of its healing.]

Is there anything else I can do?

[ the fact that it's already healing makes Hikage more dubious than anything, honestly. He sighs, pulling back. It's not like he's a detective or has even the slightest bit of experience with forensics. All he can do is guess. ]

... Was this really from her grappling hook? Tell me the truth.

[He glances toward Stephanie, looking pained, and then nods slowly.]

[ he looks at her, too - then back at Ion. ]

Then... I'll believe you. [ a pause. ] Don't make me regret it.

[Ion seems to have trouble speaking, and bows his head.]

Thank you.

[But of course he can't just leave it at that, so as he re-bandages his injury, he also adds:]

I'm so sorry for the trouble.

[ the look steph is currently shooting at them says, "don't apologize to him, ion!!" ]

[JOKES ON YOU THIS JUST MAKES HIM WANT TO APOLOGIZE MORE.

BUT SILENTLY, WITH HIS WHOLE FACE.]

[ danielle i'm gonna murder you. you specifically, not ion.

but steph will go over and gently nudge his shoulder. ]

You're fine. Don't worry about it, I annoyed Hikage more than you ever did.

[ LEAVE HIM ALONE STEPH HE'S TRYING TO BE A GOOD DETECTIVE LIKE BATMAN WOULD WANT ]

If you didn't do anything, then you don't need to apologize. Let's just find who killed these people.

You have a scratch on your shoulder. I want to see if it could have been caused by this, [ he says, gesturing with the branch as he speaks. ] Sousei didn't remember you getting hurt like that during your sparring. In other words, you probably got it in the hedge maze. The question is whether it was before or after that blonde guy died.

[frowns!! but since he isn't being asked to strip this time, he unbuttons his jacket and shirt enough so he can pull the collar and sleeve down to reveal the scratch on his shoulder]

Do what you will.

[ dem collarbones though

just kidding, Hikage doesn't care. He's very methodical about this; gingerly, he places the bloodied tip of the branch alongside the scratch, trying to determine if it's the right size to have caused such an injury. ]

[dem collarbones]

[it does look like it could be a match, yes! not a perfect one-- it probably could've come from a rock or something else sharp too-- but the branch can't be ruled out as a possibility]

[ hikage is realizing that he's bad at this. He stares for a few seconds, frowning, then backs off, waving a hand at Akechi. ]

All right.

[he pulls his shirt back up. BYE, COLLARBONES]

Are you satisfied?

No.
