CHAPTER 1: TRIAL

The Story Continues...
CHAPTER 1 - WEEK 1
34 Narrators Remain ;
Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve.

Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take.

By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Tiger at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand.

Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate.

Throughout today's trial, the snow continues to fall as it has all week, though it's gentle and soft. Instead of tea and crumpets, today's snack bar includes the makings for s'mores, including sharp metal skewers. A fire could be built, should anyone have anything flammable. Additionally, every now and then, the howls of a group of wolves will penetrate the silence that occasionally falls on the the group...and sometimes even in the heat of the moment.

alchemenace: (and nowhere to screw it in)

... I don't know that Soo-won died from that throat wound. [ he looks pensive as he says it: ] I'm not a doctor, I'm an alchemist, obviously, so I could be wrong, but the wound didn't touch any major arteries and it's pretty shallow. There's also no sign of a fight on Soo-won, no bruises or cuts or anything. I-- I guess he could've bled out from even that wound, but there's not a lot of ink in the first place. It doesn't look like the wound was wiped or anything, either. Not to mention the Minotaur didn't attack him, which as far as we know, he tries to do to anyone who moves close to him.

His tapestry said he was an expert swordsman. A guy like that would've put up a fight, right? And with more than just the one branch. Unless... Um, well, the point being, I think he might've been drugged or poisoned?
asswipe: (016)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
... Sanji said a cup had been used in the kitchen. It could be related.
alchemenace: (i was born for politics)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-06-16 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, that's what I was thinking. Otherwise, since it's just a teacup, someone would've said something, right? It's not like with the knives, where people took them for, uh. Reasons.

[ stabbings. ]
asswipe: (088)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. And like the five dresses from last week. Rebecca confessed she took them so we didn't waste time on something that didn't matter. Admitting you used something from the kitchen isn't suspicious, unless you had a reason to be paranoid.
londonstar: (three.)

[personal profile] londonstar 2018-06-16 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, perhaps that is the case. However, then the question would have to be where or how did this person procure some poison? Perhaps their ability?
asswipe: (042)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Do we know for sure that none of the plants in this place are, uh... you know, safe to consume?
alchemenace: (so you chose your dad over me)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-06-16 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, that's also bothering me. If they didn't get poison from their "gift", the only other option is, um, kitchen supplies. I know apple seeds can be poisonous, but you'd need a lot of them to kill a person. But, um, there was a rash around and inside Soo-won's mouth.

[ which i only just learned but thanks to the power of time travel is now canon to this thread ]
wagashis: (stopppp)

[personal profile] wagashis 2018-06-16 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Was there, now.

[that's interesting, especially considering the lack of a giant ink mess.]

Then perhaps we ought to have a look at that cup. Carefully, of course.
alchemenace: (fine. we'll go to my house.)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-06-16 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
We'd have to request it from Tiger and, uh. I can't believe I have to say this but also make sure no one licks it. But yes.
asswipe: (076)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
... Okay, great. That's just... great. Do we remember anything from the tapestries that might give us a clue as to who knows their poisons? Unless we have something that screams I'm deadly don't drink me around here.

[like, you know, drain cleaner.]
thesettingsun: smile (I won't ride along in your helicopter)

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-16 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
...Technically... But I don't have access to any drugs that I would even know how to use, not to mention I don't know how to hide that kind of thing.
asswipe: (058)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Saying "I don't know" isn't... really an excuse around here, but noted. Thank you, Dazai.
thesettingsun: smile (and they don't even know)

tw: suicide attempt mention

[personal profile] thesettingsun 2018-06-16 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a difference between an assassin who knows how to kill someone else with poison, and somebody like me who tried to overdose a few times. Unsuccessfully.
alchemenace: (after zero consideration)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-06-16 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[ wow what an oddly specific example bracket text of Veronica Sawyer from Heathers ]

I haven't seen anything specific like that around here, but is there any title in the list that could have to do with poisons?

[ he doesn't know fairy tales. ]

asswipe: (054)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[the bracket text is just throwing spaghetti at walls gosh]

Snow White's Prince...? There's a lot of evil witch type titles in the list, though, so I don't know.
faceripper: (pic#12349049)

[personal profile] faceripper 2018-06-16 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ well, ]

Ah, yes, I do know something about them. Certainly how to brew them, since it was quite an important skill considering my current state...

[ He shrugs ]

Poison would be quite refreshing for me. In fact, I would appreciate it to stop the Source leaking out of my wrist.
asswipe: (056)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[oh my god.]

... Can you still drink poison without keeling over, or did that get taken away like other people's abilities?

[Because. There might be a cup that needs closer inspection.]

As a magus and alchemist, I do know my way around some poisons and chemicals. However it is difficult to test for them without the right equipment.

asswipe: (004)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Or without someone stupid enough to try a hands on approach.

[a beat.]

—Which, by the way, is not an invitation for someone to lick the teacup!
axilium: (the plot thickens)

[personal profile] axilium 2018-06-16 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
... I just spoke with the Tiger. If someone was planning a kill and requested poison from her, she'd provide.
alchemenace: (where do you keep your brains?)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-06-16 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
So it could've been literally anyone, so long as they could get Soo-won a cup of tea.
axilium: (which is in development hell)

[personal profile] axilium 2018-06-16 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The question then becomes why Soo-won would accept a drink from anyone, to begin with. Especially on Thursday?

Didn't know the guy, but I'm assuming he wouldn't have accepted tea from just anyone... Especially on a Thursday night where people might die.

Apple seeds contain hydrogen cyanide and, those who are in contact with them may develop irritations and rashes where it comes in contact with the poison. It can also cause weakness, nausea, and dizziness to whoever is exposed to it.

[ he frowns, thinking for a second. ]

We do have the title for Snow White's Prince, the titular fairy tale that involves a poisoned apple. However, I don't know if we should immediately point our fingers to that person yet.
alchemenace: (where do you keep your brains?)

[personal profile] alchemenace 2018-06-16 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[ there's a sigh ]

I really need a summary of all these stories. Okay, so Snow White does have an apple. On the other hand, Tiger said anyone who requested poison for a kill could get it, so I think you're right in that there's no point focusing on titles. It's not like we can narrow those down anyway without anyone outing themselves.
