CHAPTER 1: TRIAL

The Story Continues...
CHAPTER 1 - WEEK 1
34 Narrators Remain ;
Wakey wakey, naughty murder children. It's a lovely Saturday, after all. Breakfast is served piping hot at its usual time and all of the evidence has been removed from the scenes of yesterday. No matter how you choose to spent your morning though, the clock will begin to chime the moment both hands reach the large, ornate twelve.

Before your eyes materializes a door...but not just any door. Unlike the door leading to the festival, this door sits primly and properly right in front of the foyer. Whether you exit the castle on your own or you feel a friendly, invisible push, you begin to walk under an arc of wisterias. Behind you, the clock continues to chime with every step you take.

By the time the time the clock strikes twelve, you've entered a beautiful garden. In front of you is a long table, 19 seats on each side. Around the garden are several glass cases containing evidence collected yesterday. As noon intensifies on the sun-shaped clock, you'll find Tiger at the head of the table, a glass-covered rose near her right hand.

Tick tock, Narrators. You have nine hours to deliberate.

Throughout today's trial, the snow continues to fall as it has all week, though it's gentle and soft. Instead of tea and crumpets, today's snack bar includes the makings for s'mores, including sharp metal skewers. A fire could be built, should anyone have anything flammable. Additionally, every now and then, the howls of a group of wolves will penetrate the silence that occasionally falls on the the group...and sometimes even in the heat of the moment.

hairbrain: "butthead" (I don't like to throw around the word)

[personal profile] hairbrain 2018-06-16 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
If he [ because it's either dave or soo-won ] was just testing his powers --- or, I don't know.

I guess it's more likely -- if my theory is right -- that the killer did this, actually.
vigilantics: (he's not gonna change anyway.)

[personal profile] vigilantics 2018-06-16 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the Minotaur has been here all week. As long as the maze has been.
hairbrain: (Great attitude!)

[personal profile] hairbrain 2018-06-16 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
.... Oh, nevermind then.
resumed: (annoyed ♕ quit irritating me)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
If the killer killed Soo-won in the maze, they would have had to be fast to outrun the minotaur, too. It didn't give us a ton of time before it started chasing us and we didn't even do anything.

[personal profile] randori 2018-06-16 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
What if they could fly? You don't have to go through the maze, you can jump over the walls and stuff.
resumed: (neutral ♕ seriously?)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Do we know of anyone's titles that could be tied to flight?
axilium: (which is in development hell)

[personal profile] axilium 2018-06-16 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Aladdin could be associated with a flying carpet, Jack could be about climbing, Peter Pan might involve flying, Wendy's might also—that's off the top of my head.
resumed: (neutral ♕ whatever you want)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack like...and the Beanstalk? He did climb plants and it's a hedge maze...
axilium: (uh-huh tell me more)

[personal profile] axilium 2018-06-16 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm figuring that's the Jack in question, yeah.
resumed: (alert ♕ we have to go)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
On the other hand, speaking of plants, the Tiger said one of the deceased could grow plants so maybe that's not it. Aladdin or Peter Pan might be a better bet. But logistically, could someone carry someone else while in-flight?
axilium: (uh-huh tell me more)

[personal profile] axilium 2018-06-16 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Good question. Maybe if they were really strong, but...
resumed: (Default)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Last we we learned about enough people who could carry someone Gi-gan's size. Soo-won's bigger than she is so that raises an even bigger question.
axilium: (i think we're headed to bad end)

[personal profile] axilium 2018-06-16 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
And flying too—that would take some confidence. ... Then again, so would killing someone with a minotaur hanging around would too. But that aside, what if you accidentally dropped him?
resumed: (hades ♕ skeleton boy)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
From that height, he could have broken something if he landed wrong and he looked like he was in one piece. I know what broken bones look like. Veronica suggested it's possible someone might have a title that could tame the minotaur, too.
axilium: (the plot thickens)

[personal profile] axilium 2018-06-16 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I meant more in the sense of, if I was the killer, I'd be wary about transporting him in a way that could've meant dropping him somewhere I didn't mean to—especially since, if I did, it could give away that he'd been dropped from a large height.

The minotaur theory might have some weight, though.

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, that's a good point.

It would be easier if we knew more about the titles and abilities and when people are using them. But the minotaur theory holds weight. I imagine if you didn't spend a lot of time wasted in the maze you could escape just fine while it was asleep or distracted.
hairbrain: (What happened to the rest of my face!?)

[personal profile] hairbrain 2018-06-16 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I do have another theory that they used their gifts -- like, teleportation, or flying? That could explain it.
resumed: (Default)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Teleportation would make sense. It would mean getting in and out, but one of the other things we found in the maze was a branch with blood on it. Like someone had a crash landing. But the rest of that could explain it.
asswipe: (079)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
What if they had a title that let them, uh, avoid pissing the minotaur off? Maybe bewitch it, or— or something.
resumed: (ponder ♕ give me a sec)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Like an animal-taming title? Or something that could have put it to sleep or something.
asswipe: (060)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods.]

Sleeping Beauty, for example. Their "gift" could be putting others to sleep.
resumed: (chat ♕ so it's like this)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a really good point. The minotaur didn't seem that disoriented when we were in there, but we also don't know when Soo-won was killed and how long it was between that and discovering his body.
asswipe: (014)

[personal profile] asswipe 2018-06-16 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Akechi said footsteps were starting to get covered up by the snow, so maybe his... corpse was there for a while before you guys found him.
resumed: (alert ♕ we have to go)

[personal profile] resumed 2018-06-16 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
At least overnight, I bet. The prints were half-gone by the time we got out there.
