CHAPTER 1 - WEEK 1??? Narrators Remain ;

The clock begins to chime, and on the first note, curfew lifts. Your doors swing open, whether you are ready or not.

Leaving your room is a blur. The person you fell asleep beside — are they still there? Have they vanished? Were they ever there at all? You can't seem to recall clearly. What you are most aware of is the pervading sense of wrongness in the air, and how you can't hear anything but the chime of the clock. Even the sounds of your own voice and your own footsteps do not reach your ears.

By the time the time the clock strikes nine, you know one thing to be true: blood has been spilt.

Search the castle carefully — you wouldn't want to miss a single important detail, would you...?

Welcome to this week's investigation post!

This time, you all will be posting your own locations that you wish to search. Please note the Locations page for your reference. Evidence — or lack thereof — will be noted in these threads. We ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.

After the discovery of the body (or bodies) and any pertinent evidence, an IC announcement concluding the investigation will go up. You are then free to make your own toplevels on this post for any threads you would like to have between the end of the investigation and the start of the trial.

That's not unusual.

[ maybe someone took one to their room last night before curfew set in, or something. Still, Hikage's not naive enough to dismiss it entirely. He immediately goes to look in the oven and stove area for the tea kettle. ]

[The tea kettle is still there! It's empty. Maybe whoever used it only needed one cup?

Nothing else seems to be missing from the drawer with the cups.

However... it does look like the drawer with cutlery is slightly open! Take a closer look?]

[Sanji's suspicious because you bastards keep taking his kitchenware (SHUT UP IT ALL BELONGS TO HIM), so after shooting Hikage a look, his gaze drops to that cutlery drawer]

... Oi, what's in there?

[Hikage is closer so take a look, dude]

[ turns out sanji is the one taking all the kitchenware, wow

he meets Sanji's gaze briefly before deciding "fuck it" and just... opening that drawer up. Carefully. He hopes nothing jumps out into his face. ]

[Inside the drawer, Hikage will find 36 forks and 36 spoons.

He will, however, only find 35 butter knives. Apparently one is missing.

Someone's getting desperate for stabby implements!]

This is why I sleep with a shitty kitchen knife under my pillow!

[ THERE'S ONE KNIFE MISSING AND IT'S UNDER SANJI'S PILLOW? ]

[ what is anyone going to do with one, really. So far, all the stuff missing here seems relatively inconsequential.

Hikage decides to look inside the oven, in case someone put the cat in there... and also glancing around the kitchen in general to see if anything else seems off. ]

[There's a cake in the oven!

...well, it seems like there's a cake in the oven, anyway. It looks delicious, but as soon as Hikage blinks, it's gone.

No cake for him and Sanji. :(

Behind them, the kitchen door slams shut. Spooky!]

[Okay who has the balls]

Open the oven to double check.

[Sorry Hikage Sanji is bossy. He's also going to very carefully pick his way to the kitchen door and try. to. open it??]

Wait. I saw something in there for a second.

[ OPENING IT once again hoping nothing jumps out and attaches to his face phantasm-style ]

[The cake is still a lie, Hikage.

And... the kitchen door is locked, for some reason? Hm. Maybe you need to canoodle to get out.]

[Oh no.

Sanji is stuck in the kitchen.

Where he spends literally all of his free time.

[ the fridge? he's looking in the fridge now. ]

[The fridge has nothing in it! Aside from, like, food. And drinks. You know, normal kitchen stuff. The rest of the area is pretty much like that too, except for the fact that the door is locked.

Sanji and Hikage live here now, I guess.]

[And here is Sanji, strolling over with absolutely no fucks to give.]

I'll try kicking the shitty door down after I make my coffee.

[JUST CASUALLY]

What? Are you an idiot? We need to get out of here before something shows up and tries to kill us.

[ THIS IS NO TIME FOR COFFEE!! is there anything else in the room Hikage can try and open and/or investigate?! a window, maybe?! ]

[Food may be the windows to a man's stomach, and the kitchen may be where food lives, but there are no literal windows here.

Maybe they can wedge a butter knife in the gap between the door and the doorframe to shimmy the lock!

Or maybe they can just chill a bit and have coffee. Or canoodle. Either option is fine.]

I fuckin dare someone to try.

[HIKAGE I AM SO SORRY FOR SANJI.

Also he is damned serious about that coffee so upon seeing there's no way to escape, he's going to make that coffee. Or at least start it. He'll turn to poor Hikage eventually.]

Alright, let's find a way to get the door open. I got the coffee started.

[YES NOW THEY CAN PROCEED]

[ he cannot believe he's stuck in here with some curly-eyebrowed weirdo who's more concerned about getting his coffee break than possible murderers on the loose!! you better believe he spends the entire time sanji is making that coffee trying to find a secret exit, looking for more exit, and angrily rattling the doorknob. The idea of wedging the knife in the gap doesn't occur to him, because he's never had to do anything like that before...

also, he's mad at sanji now ]

Try a butter knife to get the lock open... No shitty guarantee it'll work, but I wonder if the kitchen door locked on whoever was here last.

[ also DON'T CALL HIM A KID, HE'S ?? YEARS OLD. Hikage doesn't exactly know what he's talking about, but he's frustrated enough to just go along with it, and tosses Sanji one of the knives. Yes, literally, he's throwing it towards him. Catch. ]

[EXCUSE YOU, BINCH, HE'LL CATCH IT, rolling his eyes.

Also despite being the chef, Sanji's bff is Nami. Who unlocks all the locks and steals all the things. So yeah. He is. Actually decent at this. THAT SAID, will he actually succeed in shimming that knife through the door and doorframe, opening the lock?

Because he actually does not care, his coffee isn't finished yet.]

[The door swings open after some shimmying! Congrats, you escaped. Hikage, enjoy your sweet, sweet freedom. Sanji, enjoy your bitter, bitter coffee.]
