END OF PROLOGUE ; EXECUTION

The Story Continues...
END OF PROLOGUE - WEEK 0
37 Narrators Remain ;
It's execution day, naughty murder children.

Breakfast is served in the dining hall, all the better to fortify you for what is to come. Wherever you might wander in the castle, you will find yourself drawn to the foyer when the clock strikes not twelve, but ten.

In the distance, there is the sound of clanking armor. Sharpay Evans appears, flanked on either side by suits of armor, escorting her to her punishment. She holds her head high, poised and controlled, acutely aware of all the eyes on her.

A moment later, the Dragon appears on the foyer's staircase. Her hand trails down the banister as she walks, and she takes her place at the head of the group, standing in front of what appears to be a wall.

"Come," she says. "The execution awaits."

You blink, and then it's there — a door leading to the outside. The Dragon steps through it. You have no choice but to follow.

Welcome to your first execution post!

Please see here for the results of yesterday's voting. We whole-heartedly encourage also taking the time to leave notes for the mods in the feedback plurk. In addition, make sure you fill out your CR Chart for the Prologue!

If you have any questions, please ask on our Discord server or ping us on plurk. Please direct pings for the NPC to Dana (Discord DMs preferred, then [plurk.com profile] decals), as she will be taking point for today's NPC, and the moderator team will be on deck for all other questions.

[ Ann is about at ill at ease. After all, it had been her observation that had led to Sharpay's conviction, and now she's witnessing the fallout. For that reason, she refuses to look away, even as the silhouette in the carriage is skewered - once, again, a third time, a fourth...

Long after the carriage is gone, Ann stares at the space where it was, up until movement around her gets her attention. As people begin to disperse, she goes to find Reyna and check on her. ]

Hey... How are you doing?

[ Finding her prone at the bottom of the stairs on Friday had been frightening, to say the least. ]

[Right - Ann was one of the people who found her at the bottom of stairs. It makes sense that she would be concerned, and so Reyna acknowledges her with a small nod.]

I'm all right.

[...as all right as anyone can be.]

What about you?

[Ann seems like a tough girl, but - has she seen something like that before? Reyna doesn't know.]

Dunno. That was pretty rough.

[ To put it lightly. Ann is horrified, her stomach twisting into knots. She'll likely get sick later, in the comfort and privacy of her room, when she's alone with her thoughts. ]

If I hadn't said anything—

[ ????

Would Sharpay still be alive? ... She still killed someone. ]

An innocent person would have died. Maybe more people would have died, too.

[Reyna's words aren't gentle, but her tone is.]

Sharpay nearly took Jae-ha down with her. Someone liked Jae-ha and Sousei enough to save them, but what if we'd voted for someone else...? An innocent person would have been executed in Sharpay's place, and if whoever saved Jae-ha and Sousei wasn't as inclined to save their partner, we would have lost more than just the victim and the killer.

Don't feel guilty for bringing someone to justice.

[ Regardless of how forceful the words themselves may be, Ann takes heart in them. She'll explain why: ]

You know, you sound a lot like someone I know from back home. Justice is really important to her.

[ And then, sharply, Ann misses Makoto so, so much. She wouldn't have hesitated. She would have done what she knew in her heart to be right. If she could see Ann floundering now, she'd talk her through it like the true friend she is. Makot isn't here, though, and wishing for her won't change that. ]

For what it's worth, I'm really glad that she - Sharpay - didn't hurt you.

[ann could always wish for makoto in the wishing well!

...shitposting meta text aside, Reyna is quiet as Ann speaks - if it helps her to say this, then she'll listen. Hopefully it's a good comparison.]

She sounds like someone I'd have liked the chance to meet.

[good taste in friends, ann!]

You and me both. ...thanks for that.
