CHAPTER 7 ; MINGLE

The Story Continues...
CHAPTER 7 - WEEK 715 Narrators Remain ;

Just before Narrators awake, those who are still attached to partners will dream of the two of them together – and then the sudden snap of a red string that connects the two of them.

Once they awake, they’ll find the entire section of the rulebook pertaining to Partners has disappeared entirely.

Apparently the time for partnerships is over.

In addition, the castle has begun to empty out. Perhaps Narrators will notice it now especially on this morning, as their footsteps echo and the halls lack the familiar faces they’ve come to know.

Upon entering the dining hall, the tapestries of Evan Hansen, Lord El-Melloi II, Natsuo, Fon Master Ion, Fane, Varian, and Zelos Wilder will all catch flame and disappear as the fire engulfs them entirely, leaving nothing behind.

Yet one oddity seems to have enchanted the castle this week – there are the sounds of running footsteps and the familiar laughter of those who have departed. Should you choose to follow this noise, you’ll be led to the Puppet Room.

The door will shut behind you – you’ll catch be movement out of the corner of your eye. Yet instead of a puppet entering the stage and re-enacting a dramatic scene, it will just suddenly appear… closer to you.

It lingers there, and makes no other move.

Welcome to Week 7, everyone! We would also like to remind players to submit all of their Chapter 6 PCs and new PCs at the Private Conversations page and review the weekly ooc notes for important details in the castle.

Something odd will be arriving on Wednesday, July 25th so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.

once upon a time, there was a castle...

In this Castle lived thirty-eight Narrators, whose purpose was to fight and die for the Crafters in the guise of taking part in their war; among them was a Beauty and a Beast, who were tasked with a duty that they both found most detestable.

Striving to dismantle this war from the inside out, the Beauty attempted to kill one of the Crafters without the Beast's knowledge, and both of them were banished to the Other Side, left to rot even as the other Narrators were returned to their own stories.

Now, the last and final battle of this war is about to begin; the fates of the Beauty, the Beast, and all the Narrators lost in the last two weeks lie in the hands of those who remain.

The narrators must bear in mind that what is beautiful is often cruel.

Be that as it may, the Narrators who replenish the inkwell through achievement shall be rewarded with beautiful wishes, and a desirable ending need not be writ by the ink of life.

Nor should Narrators strive to spill entirely gold or purple ink; the results could be disastrous.

Each faction must complete seven objectives for the happiest conclusion to the story to come to pass.

A favorable ending will not occur without the trust and teamwork of those who remain.

Classics - Monday

[So, it's his turn, finally? Eichi is rather quiet as he approaches the tapestries dripping ink, and he stays there for a bit too long, looking at Belph's, and then Sanji's, followed by his own. He holds out his palm to catch the ink from his own and stares at it there, looking a little lost behind his practiced smile.]

[Someone get his hand out from the ink thanks.]

Library - Monday & Tuesday

[Aside from that, there's no music for Eichi, this week. He's still ill, though he's trying harder and harder to look fine. He has his tea as normal, but it's the library he heads to. He's gone there often enough, but this time he's there more frequently, either staring at the leather-bound book that keeps adding more with increasing frustration, or settling down in a chair with some nice books on war.

No matter who it is he happens to see enter, he'll smile and offer a little wave.]

Library - Monday

[and again, Akechi finds himself in the library, immediately drawn towards the leather-bound book on the pedestal. much as he does every week, really. his fingers trace the edges of the pages as he reads the latest addition, and. . .]

[he frowns]

[he crinkles his brow]

[and with a low growl in the back of his throat, he jerks back and kicks the base of the pedestal. hard]

[. . . HARD ENOUGH TO KIND OF HURT, ACTUALLY. he hobbles back with a pained hiss moments later, expression twisted into a scowl. did you see that. it was pretty funny]

Owlery - Anytime

[otherwise, Akechi spends a lot of time at the owlery, seated at the table with a parchment in front of him and a quill covered in ink in his hand. it's clear he's been here a while, judging by the ink stains on his fingers]

[it looks like he's writing letters. he has like, an entire stack of them finished, piled to the side of the table, rolled up and tied with string to keep them together. he looks contemplative and tired, but hey, he can be bothered]

[who is he even writing to??]

[While she's certainly started sleeping better, this weekend was an emotional roller coaster and she's never been so drained in her life.

She grabs a book at random and sinks into a chair nearby.]

monday, observatory;
[How did he even get up here?? Good question honestly but here he is, on the outer balcony, just kinda hanging out for as long as his little sickly legs can handle standing upright. Anyone approaching from behind within the observatory itself will get a small smile from over his shoulder as Souji scoots over a little to make room.]

tuesday, library;
[Hello once again, library, you cursed zone... Souji's standing on a ladder today, apparently reaching for something on a higher shelf - but ah. Hm. Having a sickly appetite doesn't really do one any good in terms of actually eating properly! Funny how health works like that, huh.

Anyone walking by might see him teeter backward briefly since he just blacked out a bit where he's standing, IT'S FINE. Hopefully it'll be fine for you too, since it looks like he might just kinda fall on you if you don't dodge. Maybe you'll get lucky and he'll snap out of it in time to grab the ladder again! Maybe you can have a dashing hero moment and catch this swooning damsel! Maybe we'll both get lucky and sweet death will come for both crusher and crushee. LOOK OUT BELOW.]

[Souji has taken to one of these luxurious sofas, thank you very much. Probably because he, for some reason, has decided that this is just the week he's going to keep tackling the stairs and climbing all the way up to highest points of the castle. Why? Who knows!!

But he is now in need of copious rest so here he is, just sort of curled up on one of them with a stack of books on the table nearby. Anyone wandering in for a drink or some snacks will be waved over before they can even make it to the bar, ripperoni.]

Have you seen these before?

[He's got a book on horticulture and is pointing to this or that particularly lovely flower - night sky petunias, marbled roses, etc.]

Why do you ask?

[unfortunately for us both there is no sweet death, only shirasu hurrying over when he notices souji teetering backward... he isn't much of a dashing hero, but shirasu does catch him, peering down at souji with his brow furrowed in concern.]

--perhaps you should be a little more cautious, up there.

[He absolutely crashes into Rebecca. She's not aware of anything that's happening around her right now and looking up seems like way too much work at the moment. So when starts teetering, Rebecca doesn't notice and doesn't get out of the way.

Though at this point it's hard to say if she'd want to dodge if she realized.

Here she is. Crushed under a man.

There's a long pause as she realizes what's happened and why she's sprawled on the floor.]

Are you okay?

No? Is there anything you'd like to talk about, perhaps? I could bring us some tea, and I'll sit and listen to your woes. ♪

... I don't know if I want to talk about some of it yet.

[Because it's so scary to actually think about what she feels and have to deconstruct it.]

I'm worried about the end of this week and we haven't even gotten there yet.

Souji is definitely looking a little concerned at his fellow sickly over here, though, gently stepping over and barely casting a look up toward the "bloodied" tapestries.]

--Who can say? [But he will just sort reach out and touch Eichi's elbow as if to say "you stop that".] You probably won't find an answer like this, though.

[belph will just casually ignore his own tapestry, thanks.]

Alternatively, we could all lie on the floor and ponder the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

[Akechi please they already have so many sickly people and people running around without limbs, the last thing they need is someone just stubbing their toe and contracting gangrene or something. IT WOULD BE THEIR LUCK.]

[From his cozy little reading nook, where he's staring with a mixture of Concern and The Emotion This Icon Conveys.]

[shoots Belph a baleful look as he hobbles over to a chair and sits down. hard.]

I've just never seen them before myself, so I was curious.

I mean, you seem like the one having problems here.

[a sharp, irritated mutter is Souji's response as Akechi just. drops into a chair because his foot hurts. ow]

[said a bit sharply]

I was simply conveying an emotion.

[hm, think of healthier ways to do that, Akechi]

Yeah? And what'd the book do to invoke your utter fury?

[lightly, but there's an undercurrent of irritation to his words]

Deliver unto us pointless and repetitive advice.

[He isn't a dashing hero but at least he's unfairly pretty, that's gotta count for something??

Anyway, give him a second to actually regain his sense of surroundings, since his focus is scrambled in that "whoops sure did almost pass out" way. HE'S DOING JUST FINE OVER HERE.]

Ah... thank you. [For saving everyone from finding a body so early because he cracked his noggin on the ground or something.] I wasn't feeling unwell, so I figured it would be fine.

[CLEARLY NOT. Also when is he ever actually feeling "not unwell".]

Well, I might've. I'm not really a flower guy, though, so I don't remember.

Flowers aren't much of a thing anymore where I'm from, anyway.

... Were you hoping that the next line would suddenly illuminate the entire war and give us the key to victory?
