CHAPTER 6 ; INVESTIGATION
CHAPTER 6 - WEEK 6 The clock begins to chime, and on the first note, curfew lifts. Your doors swing open, whether you are ready or not. Leaving your room is a blur. The person you fell asleep beside — are they still there? Have they vanished? Were they ever there at all? You can't seem to recall clearly. What you are most aware of is the pervading sense of wrongness in the air, and how you can't hear anything but the chime of the clock. Even the sounds of your own voice and your own footsteps do not reach your ears. By the time the time the clock strikes nine, you know one thing to be true: blood has been spilt. Search the castle carefully — you wouldn't want to miss a single important detail, would you...? ![]() Welcome to this week's investigation post! This time, the mods will be providing top-levels for you to search. Please note the Locations page for your reference. Evidence — or lack thereof — will be noted in these threads. We ask that group threads consist of no more than 1-2 characters. After the discovery of the body (or bodies) and any pertinent evidence, an IC announcement concluding the investigation will go up. You are then free to make your own toplevels on this post for any threads you would like to have between the end of the investigation and the start of the trial. If you have any questions, please ask on our Discord server or ping us on plurk. Please direct pings to Britt ( Instructions on this week's investigation can be found in a pin in the General chat!

[THESE WORDS WILL BECOME PROPHETIC
But, also. Like Belph, she's running into the room to check what's up. She assumes he has corpse inspection covered, so she'll focus on looking at the surrounding area. Besides the trail of blood, what would Veronica see? Any notes on the distressed owls? Obvious murder weapons?]

She may want to watch her step--there's more crimson ink on the floor, leading from the body to the writing desk at the far end of the room.
As for Belph, when he gets close, he'll recognize who the body is right away. But...is it a corpse at all?]

Fon Master Ion is still alive.]

belph's expression tightens for a moment, before he reminds himself to focus—ion's fate is on the line. immediately, he crouches down to hold ion.]
Fonny!

Anyway, she manages to reach the desk at the same time that—]
Belph?! [WHO'S FONNY???] What's happening? Who is it?
[Looking back and forth from the desk to Belph + the Not!Corpse. This is fine. Everything is fine.]

Poor Belph is about to get a lot of crimson ink all over himself. Sorry, Belph. In fact--]
I'm sorry.
[Yeah, of course that's the first thing he manages to say, and it's clearly a struggle for him to say anything at all, his voice more of a breath than anything else.]

belph looks down at ion, and—well, enjoy the rare sight of belph looking upset, ion. belph grips him a tad more tightly. he doesn't care about the ink.]
... It's not your fault, kid.

She's swiping those letters from the desk to look through once she's not in PANIC MODE, but also. Realizing the corpse is talking and Belph is talking back, she's just going to. Maybe die.]
I, I'm going to go get Rebecca, or— Or Waver. Or, someone that's alive. Please, hold on.
[ANYWAY, time for her to yeet herself out of this room. Will Ion die in the next tag? Stay tuned to find out.]

Don't be sad.
[Darkness presses in the corners of his vision. Instinctively, he tilts himself closer into Belph's chest. He's never felt this cold before...so cold.]
This was always...what I was meant for...
[Ion reaches a hand up, as if to make some kind of comforting gesture, but it shakes and then falls heavily backward against the ground.]
Please...
[Tears dot at the corners of his eyes. He mouths something else, but then his body goes slack. Fon Master Ion is dead.]

when ion's life fades, he's not surprised, but it doesn't hurt any less. he's quiet for a moment—and everything else, all the sounds, seems so far away—before he moves to stand up, lifting ion's body.]
... We'll bring you back. So... just rest for now.
[and with that, he leaves the room.]
