The Story Continues... CHAPTER 6 - WEEK 6??? Narrators Remain ; The clock begins to chime, and on the first note, curfew lifts. Your doors swing open, whether you are ready or not. Leaving your room is a blur. The person you fell asleep beside — are they still there? Have they vanished? Were they ever there at all? You can't seem to recall clearly. What you are most aware of is the pervading sense of wrongness in the air, and how you can't hear anything but the chime of the clock. Even the sounds of your own voice and your own footsteps do not reach your ears. By the time the time the clock strikes nine, you know one thing to be true: blood has been spilt. Search the castle carefully — you wouldn't want to miss a single important detail, would you...? Welcome to this week's investigation post! This time, the mods will be providing top-levels for you to search. Please note the Locations page for your reference. Evidence — or lack thereof — will be noted in these threads. We ask that group threads consist of no more than 1-2 characters. After the discovery of the body (or bodies) and any pertinent evidence, an IC announcement concluding the investigation will go up. You are then free to make your own toplevels on this post for any threads you would like to have between the end of the investigation and the start of the trial. THE LIBRARY

The library is a cavernous room with two levels - though one will need to climb ladders to get to the upper parts. The shelves, at least, form orderly rows. Fairy tales feature prominently here, organized alphabetically by author and then alphabetically by title; the books on other topics, meanwhile, are all grouped together by topic - books about animals in one place, cookbooks in another, and so on. The bottom part has thirty rows of six shelves each; the top part merely has shelves lining the walls, with railings looking down on the bottom part of the library. Every ten rows there is a set of two tables with wooden chairs, three plush chairs, and one two-seater couch; at the head of the library, where the pedestal with the leather-bound book sits, there are two three-seater couches on either side of the pedestal. Up above, there are small, two-person tables with chairs placed in between some of the shelves so people can study up there too.

ANYWAY regardless of whether Souji's got a partner or is tackling this alone, as soon as he enters the library, he'll just be looking for anything Immediately Off. Bodies in the middle of the room, maybe? A murderer hiding in the rafters?]

[No bodies in the middle of the room, so that's a good sign? There's nothing immediately off from where he's entered, but maybe he'd like to go further in.]

[He would not like to go further in but he will anyway. He'll start on the bottom part, naturally, near the leather bound book. Anything suspicious around the pedestal? He'll take a look all around it and lift up the book to check it, too.

After, he'll move on to the couches, lifting up the cushions and checking around, behind, and under them. LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED.]

[Sometimes we don't get what we want. Nothing anywhere he's searching, but at some point in his efforts he might catch the glint of something golden farther in.]

[THANKS. His thorough ass is in fact going to comb through every aisle checking the floors and looking through the cushions of every chair and underneath every table, so he'll be a very wheezy man by the end of this.

BUT HEY, SOMETHING GOLD. He'll go on over once it catches his eye to get a better look... What art thou, gold thing.]

[The closer Souji gets to the gold, the more he'll find. Golden droplets and splatters are scattered around the floor of the back corner of the library.]

[Oh. He doesn't like that. BAD. Souji will... look around these golden droplet splatters. Is it a trail leading to or from somewhere? Are there any smudges, footprints? Does it look more like a splatter from someone getting brained? ARE THERE ANY MORE FINGIES.]

[It doesn't seem to be a trial or pattern leading in any one particular place. If he follows the splatters, he won't find anything in particular...on the ground. He might notice, however, that something seems off about a nearby bookshelf.]

[There better not be another limb here

But once he gets to the shady bookshelf, he'll check it out. What's going on, are there books in disarray? Fingers sticking out anywhere?]

[Stop asking about fingies you weirdo! First of all, it looks like there's a space where a book is missing. A bit further off from that, however, closest to the gold ink splatters, there's definitely something shoved into the space above the top of the shelved books.]

BUT NICE what books are surrounding the missing book, just to get an idea of what sort of thing he should be looking for if he goes on bookquest? ...Also what's that. Does he need to get a ladder to look... He'll stand on his toes first to see if he can get a gander that way, first.]

It looks like the books are out of order, so it's not going to be easy to tell what's missing. That's rude. :(

whoever just jumbled up the books is also a mood. Is there anything at all to indicate what books are in this aisle?? HE'LL TRY TO LOOK.

AFTER he gets this dark and cylindrical thing off the top of the bookshelf. ...He'll pull his sleeves over his hands just in case.]

[Nah, son, someone went to heckin town and the ghost librarians are gonna have a damn field day.

Souji has acquired one handgun silencer. I'm sure he can recognize it with his blessed modern knowledge.]

Also he's 200+ years old and what the heck is a handgun silencer. He just stares at it, puzzled, but decides it's probably important since it's out of place. YOINK.

Is there anything else out and about in the immediate area? More sketchy blood splatters, weird items stuffed behind books, etc?]

[Nope! It looks like he's found the weirdest things to be found in this area!]

[TIME TO CONTINUE THE SEARCH, THEN. Souji will go back to scouring the bottom floor first, this time making sure to scrutinize the shelves as he goes, checking to see if any books are misplaced or if anything looks like it's been shoved around or left disordered. Are the books in any other areas rearranged, or was it just the shelves back there? He'll also check the rest of the tables, wooden chairs, plush chairs, and couches as he goes.]

[Souji is a good boy who is doing his best, he must be so tired, please let him rest. It looks like the area with the gold splatters was the only noteworthy place to check--everywhere else seems to be untouched!]

don't think i forgot the second level you fiends. Naturally he's going to fucking wheeze his way up the ladder to check those shelves, the tables, and the chairs. Also to get a look at the library from a birdseye view while he's up here.]

[Hmmm, still nothing. I mean, he has now achieved Extreme Lung Distress, and from up here he can see the way that the splatters appear to lead in different directions more clearly, but...nothing new.]

[OH GOOD now he can just briefly pass out on the floor up here.]
