The Story Continues... CHAPTER 3 - WEEK 3??? Narrators Remain ; The clock begins to chime, and on the first note, curfew lifts. Your doors swing open, whether you are ready or not. Leaving your room is a blur. The person you fell asleep beside — are they still there? Have they vanished? Were they ever there at all? You can't seem to recall clearly. What you are most aware of is the pervading sense of wrongness in the air, and how you can't hear anything but the chime of the clock. Even the sounds of your own voice and your own footsteps do not reach your ears. By the time the time the clock strikes nine, you know one thing to be true: blood has been spilt. Search the castle carefully — you wouldn't want to miss a single important detail, would you...? Welcome to this week's investigation post! This time, the mods will be providing top-levels for you to search. Please note the Locations page for your reference. Evidence — or lack thereof — will be noted in these threads. We ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters. After the discovery of the body (or bodies) and any pertinent evidence, an IC announcement concluding the investigation will go up. [The shelves seem rather well-organized - the music is in alphabetical order by composer, then by song title. There's quite an impressive array of songs here, too! ...nothing particularly helpful for figuring out who deda, though.

Shirasu, while looking at the instruments, will find that nothing there seems particularly out of place either! There are two violins in the batch that have tuning forks nearby; another is alone. Hm.

The equipment Nico is checking is mostly in good condition. There are spare strings for guitars, violins, and other stringed instruments, some oils and cleaning clothes for polishing horns, and three boxes labeled "tuning forks".]

How does it look over there?

[ Sadly, there is not a helpful sheet of music labeled "BY THE WAY SOMEONE'S GONE AND DIED", so Cardia will take a look at the chairs to see if they're out of place??

How nice that there are no body parts stuffed in tubas. ]

It looks about the same, to me.

[but he's going to take a look at those violins, both the ones with the forks nearby and the one without. anything going on there, or did someone just not put their forks away?

sanji would have a fit if these were a different kind of fork.]

[He'll start opening the boxes and sorting through everything just in case someone haphazardly dumped a weapon in there.]

It looks pretty clear here, too. [He sounds a little uncertain though.] Have either of you been in here before today?

[The chairs seem fine, and the only difference between the violins with the forks and the one that doesn't have one seems to be... that one doesn't have a fork! Maybe someone only bothered to put one back.

...or not! Because when Nico opens the boxes for the tuning forks, they're all empty.]

Once, with Belph. He was trying to decide what instrument he wanted to learn.

I've been here a few times, for practice... but the only apparent change is that someone's left these out.

[a little gesture at the forks, there.

which he's also taking a closer look at just in case because i'm not sure if we're done with those yet.]

Yeah, I saw him, too. [To Cardia. Belph is something else. But he holds up the empty boxes.] These are empty, but I'm not sure they were ever filled. It seems weird for someone to take all of them don't you think?

[He's going to re-sort the boxes, though he's glancing at the wall in thought.] Especially if nothing else was touched.

[When Shirasu takes a closer look at the tuning forks, he won't find any blood or ink on them! Thank goodness. Apparently these have only been used to tune some violins, not to murder.]

Are tuning forks used for anything other than musical instruments?

[ ... and seriously, all of them?? ]

Not that I'm aware of, no...

[but if the forks and the violins are both coming up clear, he'll leave them be, taking another look around the room to double-check that nothing else looks different.]

Perhaps they misplaced the rest, or they were left somewhere else?

[He's still just kind of staring off in thought.] Where else would they be misplaced though? That's a lot of forks to lose all at once, especially if you took them out of the room.

[Mmm...] If people were using them, wouldn't we hear them?

[Nothing else around the room seems out of place at a glance! Good try though, Shirasu.]

I wonder...

I suppose we could ask everyone else if they found any of them in strange places, but it really might just be that there weren't any there in the first place.

[wagashis]

I suppose that's possible. They aren't something I'd looked at before, unfortunately.

[so he wouldn't know if anything was missing beforehand.

actually clarification question are these 3 individual tuning fork boxes, are we missing 1 solitary tuning fork, or were there three Boxes O' Forks?]

[resumed]

So what, the boxes might just be decoys? [Dumb. Shirasu can look at the boxes, Nico's going to frown and look around the room.]

...you think...that's it then?

[They are three individual tuning fork boxes! Uno fork is all that's not accounted for, if we're comparing the number of forks found to the number of empty boxes.

The missing fork is probably sparkling elsewhere in the castle.]

I think that might be it.

We checked everything else, I believe.

[wagashis]

-ah, wait a moment, actually.

[hey, about those practice rooms this place has!

let's get a door in here, shall we.]

[resumed]

[...? He just focuses for a moment.]

You think...? [There's something else?]

[And as they start to think about finding a quiet place to practice...

...a door appears in the wall.

It's closed, but like. They could open it. If they wanted.]

... Oh.

[ Well. She's going to go ahead and open the door. ]

I should have recalled this sooner.

[and shirasu follows, peering in over her shoulder, because let's see if someone left their things lying around in here instead.

Of course it's a magically-appearing door. Of course it is. [But with that, he's also following right along.]

[There's a body!




No, really, there is. The very fashionably dressed body of someone with blond hair is lying face-down on the ground in the soundproofed room. There's a glint of something metallic a foot or so away from the body's left hand, but they'll need to get a little closer to see exactly what it is.

One other thing they'll note - there is no ink on or around the body. Hm.]
