The Story Continues... CHAPTER 3 - WEEK 3??? Narrators Remain ; The clock begins to chime, and on the first note, curfew lifts. Your doors swing open, whether you are ready or not. Leaving your room is a blur. The person you fell asleep beside — are they still there? Have they vanished? Were they ever there at all? You can't seem to recall clearly. What you are most aware of is the pervading sense of wrongness in the air, and how you can't hear anything but the chime of the clock. Even the sounds of your own voice and your own footsteps do not reach your ears. By the time the time the clock strikes nine, you know one thing to be true: blood has been spilt. Search the castle carefully — you wouldn't want to miss a single important detail, would you...? Welcome to this week's investigation post! This time, the mods will be providing top-levels for you to search. Please note the Locations page for your reference. Evidence — or lack thereof — will be noted in these threads. We ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters. After the discovery of the body (or bodies) and any pertinent evidence, an IC announcement concluding the investigation will go up. [ well, thank goodness. there's still a lot of smoke, but this at least reduces the risk of... burning to death. Once the fire's out, Hikage goes to see if he can open up the window the drapes came from. Probably not, but it's worth a try!! ]

What's the point of burning some curtains?

[Strangely, no matter how hard Sanji looks, he won't find any source. It's almost as if the fire was set magically.]

Yeah, you can pick them up. [ he's not arguing THAT thanks he doesn't want these, but he's also not going for the money, just walking closer to see if there's anything else near the fingers ] ... There's something off. They're really... really clean? You'd think there would be something-- something to show they were cut off, right?

[When Waver opens the tin, he'll find that the tin ... actually seems full! It doesn't look like anything's been taken from it.]

Not that I'm aware of, no...

[but if the forks and the violins are both coming up clear, he'll leave them be, taking another look around the room to double-check that nothing else looks different.]

Perhaps they misplaced the rest, or they were left somewhere else?

[The eastern trunk is full of men's accessories - dress shoes, cuff links, tie pins, and so on. There's a nice-looking pocketwatch in there, too. It's a shame there's no one to sell it to; it would probably fetch a pretty penny.

Nothing seems to be missing from the sewing needle boxes!]

[... So there wasn't even a purpose to this besides to piss him off.

If there's evidence, it's gone... but even still, there should be some debris left. Ash, something...

Well... maybe if we keep searching...

[Waving his hand in front of his face to clear out more of the smoke, Sanji will then go to the usual spots where shit is usually missing -- did someone take butterknives or are we upgrading to murder forks?]

[Other than the money and the fingers, there's nothing else strewn about that can be noticed. Even without picking them up, they'll be able to tell that there are three fingers: the middle, fourth, and pinky fingers from someone's right hand.]

[He's still just kind of staring off in thought.] Where else would they be misplaced though? That's a lot of forks to lose all at once, especially if you took them out of the room.

[Mmm...] If people were using them, wouldn't we hear them?

The cabinet looks clear. [Thank god.] How's everything over there?

[She checks the cleaning cloths to see if they're completely unused, and then examines the vials of oil to, uh, confirm that there's really oil inside. After that, she checks the table to verify that there's nothing else on top or underneath.]

[He breathes out, distressed, and just - takes a moment to press the heels of his palms against his eyes. That's fine!!

After a few moments and a thick swallow, while Souji checks for injuries, he finds he can't look at her like that. Since he didn't see anything in the observatory itself earlier, he'll glance around the balcony to see if anything else is amiss.]

[The drapes came from the stage, so unfortunately, there are no windows in the theater that can be opened. The two of them are just going to have to deal with the smoke. Aside from the fire, nothing back here seems out of the ordinary...hm, maybe someone wanted to draw attention away from something somewhere else inside of the room.]

[Nothing else around the room seems out of place at a glance! Good try though, Shirasu.]

[Dazai's gonna pick them up... it's not the weirdest thing he's touched.]

...Sure are fingers. Could've all been sliced off in one go...

[Rebecca's not wanting for cash, so she just leaves the pocketwatch where it was.

She'll make her way over to Akechi.]

Think they were used to kill?

[Nothing else is amiss. It's strange, actually, just how immaculate the place is. As for Monika, she's just as spotless. The most unusual thing about her is that her hair is down, missing the white ribbon she usually wears. Oh, and there's the stab wound directly over her heart.]

I suppose we could ask everyone else if they found any of them in strange places, but it really might just be that there weren't any there in the first place.

Not a repeat of the first week.

[ No bodies inside, he means. Whole bodies. Can't say anything about body parts and this whole investigation has made me paranoid about this, I hate it ]

Did you find anything interesting? [ He trots over with the katana in tow, pointing the tip of it at one of the vials of oil and giving the glass a poke. It is oil, right? Not ink. ]

[ hikage's just over here doing window-opening charades then i guess........

just kidding. He shakes his head, clamping a hand over his face again. If they keep the door open, hopefully, it won't get too toxic in here.

For the time being, he turns his attention upwards towards the hanging puppets, looking to see if anything unusual's on display on the stage. Or if any of them are dismembered. Either or. ]

... The fire was a distraction?

[ while he does that, steph will just open cabinets to poke through them. especially the one that was starting to catch on fire before. ]

[These cloths seem unused! They only have dust on them. No blood, no ink. Good thinking with the oil, though - it smells just as it should! The vial of oil that Natsuo pokes gets knocked over, and spills its contents on the table.

It, too, smells like oil.

Under the table there's nothing except some dust.]

I suppose that's possible. They aren't something I'd looked at before, unfortunately.

actually clarification question are these 3 individual tuning fork boxes, are we missing 1 solitary tuning fork, or were there three Boxes O' Forks?]

[That's an incredibly astute meta text tag, because a fork is missing for real, actually. Other than that, Sanji's inventory as he knew it is accounted for. Steph won't find anything else missing, either.]
