The Story Continues... CHAPTER 3 - WEEK 3??? Narrators Remain ; The clock begins to chime, and on the first note, curfew lifts. Your doors swing open, whether you are ready or not. Leaving your room is a blur. The person you fell asleep beside — are they still there? Have they vanished? Were they ever there at all? You can't seem to recall clearly. What you are most aware of is the pervading sense of wrongness in the air, and how you can't hear anything but the chime of the clock. Even the sounds of your own voice and your own footsteps do not reach your ears. By the time the time the clock strikes nine, you know one thing to be true: blood has been spilt. Search the castle carefully — you wouldn't want to miss a single important detail, would you...? Welcome to this week's investigation post! This time, the mods will be providing top-levels for you to search. Please note the Locations page for your reference. Evidence — or lack thereof — will be noted in these threads. We ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters. After the discovery of the body (or bodies) and any pertinent evidence, an IC announcement concluding the investigation will go up. [With light coming into the observatory now, Evan will notice that nothing seems outwardly out of place. Souji, however, will find a body resting against the wall on the balcony.]

[Waver will find that the equipment to mix things has been used - there are a few residual stains on the countertop where not all of whatever potion was brewed made it into their flasks.

Fane, looking through the ingredients, will find a wide variety of things this time - apparently fewer people have raided the supply cabinets than last week! He'll find a small bag labeled "affection," which doesn't seem very heavy; a vial with a clear liquid in it labeled "extract of sikod," whatever that means; and tin labeled "carbon black powder" up near the front.]

[OPENS HER MOUTH TO LET HIM DOWN GENTLY

and then spots the shiny katana among the pile of shit he just knocked over. Thank god. A distraction.]

—Sorry, hold that thought. [Just going to move closer, so she can check out the katana. Is there anything that sticks out about it, besides it being shiny?] You've looked through this place last week. Was this here before?

[As the two approach the stairs, what's waiting for them becomes more clear. Monetary bills are scattered haphazardly about.]

[ faintly, Hikage wonders if the smoke could actually kill him here... probably best not to take chances. He takes a step back from the door, holding his hand up over his mouth and nose as the smoke billows out. ]

Shit. What are we supposed to do about this?

[ run all the way back down and get a water bucket? by then, whatever's burning might be destroyed, and it's probably important evidence someone is trying to get rid of. ]

[They're cursed!! But Souji will move forward to get a closer look and see who exactly is resting out here and whether or not they look dead.]

[ He crouches down to look at the katana that'd caught Veronica's attention. ]

But something shiny, you think it belongs to somebody here, right? One of us who dropped it?

[ he eyes the equipment curiously, and then turns to fane. ]

[getting water occurred to belph, but—yeah, evidence burning, and water isn't always a good idea, so.

he nods, doing as hikage says as he heads towards the glow.]

[ ??? Varian is going to look around to see if there's anything else, like a path the money was leading to or smt. Also: ]

[He didn't want to be on a body finding roll!! But anyways, he's coming out, moving closer to try and see who it is as well.]

[The chairs seem fine, and the only difference between the violins with the forks and the one that doesn't have one seems to be... that one doesn't have a fork! Maybe someone only bothered to put one back.

...or not! Because when Nico opens the boxes for the tuning forks, they're all empty.]

Wonderful. Well, if someone has died of poison, we'll certainly know why.

[ He scoffs as he digs around, but he hums thoughtfully enough for the answer to Waver's question to be fairly clear. He pulls out the bag, vial, and tin, then motions to them for Waver to come take a look. ]

Well, perhaps. Someone has been busy, but kind enough to label them.

Once, with Belph. He was trying to decide what instrument he wanted to learn.

[The mannequins have not been raided this week! Small blessings. One of them is wearing a lovely collared necklace that might look nice on Rebecca, though.

Akechi, looking at the needles, will find that there are five individual cases labeled "knitting needles" and a handful of small boxes that claim to hold sewing needles. Which will he look at first?]

[it's end game in Grimm, I guess, because Sanji is going to slaughter everyone]

[HECK. HECK. And Sanji is a chef so his first thought is "please don't be a grease fire" because otherwise the fact he's running to the sink for a huge bowl of water will come back to haunt him]

Stephanie-chan, you gotta stand back!

[LIKE. WAY BACK? Because he's about to throw the water on top of the flames and pray they don't make this worse]

[Honestly, it just looks like a katana. It's shiny and sharp, but there doesn't seem to be any blood on it. In comparison to the other weapons around it, though... it definitely stands out!]

[As they travel deeper into the theater, they'll find the source of the fire without too much trouble: it looks as if a set of drapes has been steadily burning. Fortunately, depending on your opinion on the matter, it seems pretty separate from the puppets, so doesn't show any danger of spreading toward them. Still might be a good idea to try and put it out somehow.]

[ she'll back away?? but also not... too far back in case she has to try to save sanji from being burned alive or something. ]

It could be that. Or it they could be expecting there would be another body to take up our attention. Didn't that happen to Dave?

[She'll open up the western wooden trunk.]

[Holla holla get some American Dollars. As Dazai picks them up, he'll notice that some of them seem as if they're sliced.

Varian's continued search will indeed find him something else!

I've been here a few times, for practice... but the only apparent change is that someone's left these out.
